I'm using a charge scoop on my main bike at the moment and I like it. I get a bit sore on longer rides but I think that's more to do with my £25 decathlon bib shorts... I'm gonna buy a more expensive pair soon and see how I get on. I think I'm going to pick up a charge spoon for my second bike sometime, as it's been crashed on so is a bit torn up and crooked. The spoon only costs like £20 anyway, so it's worth a punt.

I've tried Fizik Ariones, Selle Italia Max Flight Gel Flow yet nothing beats the £20 Charge Spoon for me personally.

Disaster tonight! Did the slightly hillier 13.2 mile route but was wanting to do 25miles by extending it through edzell again but half way through I forgot to brake at a corner http://goo.gl/maps/dOh4z and went up onto the grass verge before thumping back down onto the road and got a puncture on my front tyre this time  Spent 20 bloody minutes changing the inner tube (second time doing it so not quite mastered the technique yet!) so opted just to head home. Happy enough with the time although the higher temperature didn't help me much but the rain did!

Owch! I once ran into trouble on this right hand bend, which I was probably approaching at about 25mph, after a big descent. I lost my back wheel on a cats eye and slid all over the show before mounting the verge. Fortunately I ended up in one piece, but it was pretty scary at the time.

At least you had the gear to change it :)

Saw a pretty ugly incident on the cycle to work this morning. Got to a roundabout literally minute before work and saw the immediate aftermath of an incident between a car and a cyclist. I heard a loud bang then rounded the corner to find a few cars stopped at a roundabout. I didn't see the incident but, from where everybody ended up, it was obvious that the cyclist was going straight over the roundabout, the car hadn't seen him and just went straight out in front of him and he went into the side. I arrived just as people were getting out of their cars to go and help and the cyclist was completely sparko'd on the floor. I hung around for about a minute but there was already plenty of people there to help so I carried on to work.

Colleagues at work told me afterwards that he was sat up on the roundabout when the ambulance arrived.

Its a dangerous roundabout though. I always approach and cross it with caution but its mostly car drivers at fault because people tend to just fly through it, barely slowing down. There are enough accidents on it just involving motorists. That's why I only ever turn left on it and approach from one direction.

Scary stuff. :(

Cats eyes are horrible things when you've got skinny tyres.

Hills are pretty horrible too at 5'11.5" and 95kg, the weight does help going down the other side though :D

I'm the same height but slightly lighter at 92kg and I do not like going uphill whatsoever! Started the year at around 98kg though so quite happy with that.

This is like a meeting of weightwatchers!
I think I am about 73kg and 1.83m or 6' in imperial.

Clocked up my 500km for the Strava MTS but I feel like I have gone back a bit in the last couple of weeks. Maybe its the heat affecting me but I definitely seem slower at present. Also getting plagued by saddle sores which is probably a symptom of the heat and increased mileage this year. Might try my Charge Spoon saddle in place of my Romin and see if that helps.

This thread makes me feel tall! I'm 6'4" and hover around 81kg. Tempted to make a push for 76-77kg, or 12 stone, but I love the food and beer aspect of cycling a bit too much to make the effort at the moment. Plus 81kg seems to be my ideal and relatively easily maintainable weight. Duathlon training next month might cause me to lose a little with the extra running but doubt I'll really push for it.

Well I broke a powertap wheel spoke AGAIN, LBS obviously can't build a power wheel laced as it should with longevity.

Been PMing a guy back and forth on an Aussie forum who builds a lot of wheels, he's going to build it up from scratch for me and it should be <$250 all up inc post.

It's left me in a pickle as my tubular wheels are now tyre less after getting a flat and deciding to reglue them and I'll use stans or caffee latex to try and plug the flat.

Down to one rear wheel which is useable, fingers crossed that stays in one piece!

Managed my first 30km ride yesterday morning (I know that's nothing compared to some on here but it's a new PB for me) and have finally come to accept that, although incredibly dorky looking, bib shorts are the way forward. Man those things are comfortable.

I averaged about 25 km/h including a 6km uphill stretch. Is that decent? Here's my Strava if anyone is interested: http://www.strava.com/activities/168352302

Not very i would imagine:D

Looking forward to trying my power meter for the first time today. Hoping the storms hold off and the weather stays like it is at the moment here!

well I kinda want to believe that it would flex and as long as your sit bones are on the right parts it should be fine? road saddles have little to no padding anyway?

It might feel better to touch with faux leather etc wrapped on top but comfortability wise it can't be much different to that.????

More or less but i did have a Selle Italia which has minimal padding and its really uncomfortable where as my Fizik with a little more padding is 100x more comfortable. For that price tho, i would definitely be up for trying one. Even its its the most uncomfortable thing in the world, i would have thought you can sell it on easy because everyone loves them carbons

Just depends if you want to sit on some untested Chinese carbon on not. Your bum at risk of penetration if it breaks!

I like a hard seat but not sure if I'd be man enough to try a full carbon one. You don't see any pros riding one so they can't be that comfortable...

it is quite cheap at £17.. :) I'll give it a shot just out of interest haha.

that's one risk worth taking ;) I can't see it doing THAT much damage if it breaks, I'd expect it to crack.. not shove the whole of seat post up my bum lol.
