Hi guys

I have been offered a powerflow exhaust for my 2005 celica sport. I am in two minds about it. I think the celica sport is a bit too quiet but am also thinking that a power flow might make it sound like a boy racers car. So what you think?

i guess you mean t sport and the power flow are custom made so might be very loud might be ok. if the price is right, why not?

searching: "celica powerflow" on youtube brings up enough for you to make some decisions.

Heres one.

here is a video taken from potato cam

then there is this young gentleman who clearly knows 'what's up'.

As said above, powerflow aren't off the shelf - so two powerflow systems could be very different, depending on the guy who put it together, and whether the customer at the time asked for it to be particularly loud or quiet.

My friend got a powerflow exhaust mate for his car, and he wasn't impressed with the quality of the work. Having said that, they are stainless, so it might be worth getting just so you don't have to replace the exhaust ever again. Personally I'd go for a better quality exhaust if you want better performance and appearance, but if your just after a budget exhaust then yeah I'd get it :)

Far too many things to factor in to give advise over the web, size of bore? how many silencers? type of back box, cat removed? etc

I have spent over £1000 on HKS for my skyine, £500 for my scooby custom made and powerflow at £350 for my old golf GTI

All very different and huge price difference on the whole the powerflow gave good power lasted over 4 years before i sold the car and was just tiny bit too loud for me but didt turn heads like a boy racer more a growel on full chat. The HKS on skyline now that was loud :P HTH

It's a 4 cylinder, it will just be a louder bad noise. :)
heheheh.

I'm pretty sure some 4 pots can sound OK.

I had an Alfa 145 QV which sounded pretty good I thought (by coincidence, had a powerflow on it). Then I moved to a 5 pot Fiat Coupe - which certainly sounded better! But I remember getting a lift in a friends RenaultSport Clio a few years after I'd had the Coupe, and it sounded absolutely terrible to my ears. I wonder whether the Clio has a crappy exhaust note, or whether moving on to a 5 pot has completely ruined sporty 4 cylinder cars for me?
I've not driven nor been in a sporty 4 pot since - my own cars are now a 6 and an 8 cylinder, and others that I've driven as hire cars or whatever have been 'normal' and therefore not relevant to the question.

SR20DET and CA18DET in 200SX sound fantastic with a good exhaust. I has a HKS Hiper on my S13 and it was great, Has several on my S14A and ended with a GP Sports full 3" stainless which was pretty loud but not as loud as the silly dual pipe I got from the states (Apexi ripoff) And it didn't fit properly.

Back to the op.. As far as I remember powerflow is just a franchise so its just exhausts that are made up out of parts by anyone who is in that day?

If you think its just a little too quiet maybe have a look for a sports cat as they can often allow better flow without being pulled by Vosa or failing/swapping for MOT?

You must be kidding, Sr20 emits the worlds most god awful drone. I have a stupid straight pipe on mine and it's horrible. Getting a big pipe and putting a bung in is a rubbish idea. I have a db slayer one for mine because I can't stand the racket, feels like at least 25% of the power is gone when it's fitted, rubbish.
