Evening guys,

I have an i7 3770K running via OC Genie on an Z77 MPower @ 4.2 Ghz.

Having everything installed with a Kuhler 620 with 2x CMSP120's in push/pull.

Idle its at 50-55 deg C, gaming up to 70-75.

Too hot for my liking, what would be a natural progression cooler wise from this?

I'm guessing the old Kuhler is not up to much these days?

Cheers,

Rob

how much cpu voltage are you using? and using cpu offset or a fixed amount?

it should be idling mid 30's imo, load temps look ok

EDIT: I don't think msi has offset? not sure

can recommend the thermalright silver arrow,i could clock to 4.5ghz and 80c with that on my 3770k

an average 3770k should idle at the mid 30's. Mine runs at 4.3 with 1.28v and it idles at 33-36 degrees, Thats under a Deepcool Lucifer. Gaming, it goes up to 65-70 degrees

I thought it was running hot then, cheers guys. I will check the voltage tonight when I get home, the overclock was just done via the OC Genie button so I have not set anything up with it.

Will look at the coolers reccomended thanks

All of these self overclocking and overclocking profiles are generic and not tuned to your specific chip which means it probably overvolting your cpu making it run hot.

Wazza's guide on another forum helped me get 4.5ghz out of my 3570k im sure hell link it ( OC your self its not hard especially with a good guide like his).

Thanks Scot, i might turn the overclock down first and see what the temps are like, I have a suspicion that the cooler is not very good at all and it will run hot on stock speeds as well.

I thought using the OC Genie button OC'd the 3770k to 4.6ghz

You have a nice case that is compatible with a lot of coolers, if when you remove the OC and temps are fine then you will know for sure if your cooler isn't upto the task
