So it is a blisteringly hot day, you don't have to go into work, everyone seems to be either at work or otherwise occupied, and you have to stay at home for some reason. Whether that may be to wait for a parcel or simply because you don't feel up to going anywhere.

What do you do?

I personally place a fan in front of a window and create a wind tunnel through the house, sit at the PC with an ice cold drink, and play games while listening to music, or sit on YouTube.

The wind tunnel doesn't work too well, the drinks warm up quite quickly, and I am getting bored of sitting at my PC. :p

Don't you do all of this when it's cold? :p

2nd good summer in a row after so many rubbish ones and yes, the novelty of sun is wearing off.

A friend of mine who emigrated to Australia 8 years ago (whom I saw last year) says that when it's really hot there, people just stay indoors all day watching TV :o

don't get the uk fascination with warm weather, going on holiday to warm countries, and the concept that cold weather is terrible.

nothing like a crisp dry winters day to get stuff done outside when you cant overheat. being able to sleep properly of nights rather than being awake sweating. plus its easier to warm yourself up in winter [just a matter of layers or fire] compared to cooling yourself in summer [there's a limit to how much clothing you can decently take off, after which its aircon only]

I seem to remember last years summer being a bit of a washout. Especially compared to this year.

What really annoys me this year is that the weather seems to be trolling us. Monday to Friday every week has been glorious, wall to wall blazing sunshine, while im sitting in an office or trudging back to my car in shirt and trousers. Then as soon as it gets to Friday even it starts raining/clouds over for the weekend. Monday morning and its back to searing heat

I think you got 2012 and 2013 the other way round. 2012 was the washout. 2013 and 2014 have had back-to-back proper summers.

Agreed!! It's far easier to be adequately warm over winter, than it is to cool down over summer.
