*** Official Battlefield: Hardline Thread ***

There's a new beat coming this August with new game modes. I'll give it another try then. I wasn't keen on the game mode or map in the recent beta.

Interesting article, people were saying this is what will happen in 2006, when EA seemed to be more interested in prepping BF for consoles rather than fine tuning the experience. I would argue that microtransactions and premium have diluted the quality of the overall experience, however BF is still fun despite its problems, though of course there have been some totally unacceptable bugs on various platforms.

I got into the beta and never played the damn thing! So bad of me :(

So, what are the opinions on Hardline so far?

long story short: feels like a DLC to BF4

after paying like £90 for BF4 and premium and all the issues it has had, I think everyone is going to wait 2 months before buying this one because i'd rather not buy yet another buggy game.

EA won't invest in better servers either, they are so tight when it comes to investing money and the servers will be crap in this game too.

best to vote with your cash and stop stumping up for mediocre games and crap servers.

Definitely

The only way EA will learn is if we all stop pre ordering and waiting for a finished game before we buy. It may be perfect on release and we can believe the hype. I'll wait and see first however.

This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.

Translated for you.

This feedback [that we were selling BF4 DLC as a new game] also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to give you more than BF4 with a cops and robbers mod. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.

We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to produce a proper game and not just stick some cops and robbers skins on battlefield 4 and add some new game modes.

This could mean that EA has finally seen the light, and that the battlefield community simply won't take them turning battlefield into a yearly franchise with the same content re hashed over and over again like Madden, Fifa, NFL, NFL and the like.

Then again it could be a PR stint to try and prove that they are listening before going back to the original annual release plan once everybody gets off their back.

Or it could just be that they were planning on releasing the game at a highly congested time so they've delayed to try and get more sales.

EA has never cared about that. It was always about beating COD to market.

They've obviously decided that was no longer the primary objective, thus enabling the release date to be pushed back.

Good move if it means they're not releasing a broken game this time round. There was absolutely no chance I was going to buy this on release anyway, it was far too soon for me to believe they weren't rushing it.

Id be surprised if theirs actually anything new at all, more likely they see the reaction and fallout from BF4 and are hoping that dies down in another year.

with any luck we might actually get a finished game and not another launch like we had with Bf4 when the game blatently needed months more of development to get it polished and finished as the devs had tried to add in too much new stuff.

Hardlines problem was they didn't try to add enough new stuff !
