335i replaced with E71 X6... pics and first thoughts

Has the x6 never been updated? Interior looks, as far as I can recall exactly the same as the only one I've been in which must have been a circa 2009 car

With the exception of the X1, the X6 was the last car to be introduced in the previous generation. Despite coming out only a year before the all-new F01 7 Series (which introduced the current generation of BMW electronics etc), thee fact it's basically an E70 X5 with a different body-style means it can be traced back to the E60 of 2003.

Which is what makes comments like:

Much better than the X5

Quite amusing. It's obviously not 'much better' - its the same thing only packaged a bit differently.

The X6 was replaced this year - a new version based on the current shape X5 is now available.

The X6 styling is a guilty pleasure. I can appreciate why people dislike it but in my opinion it looks the part - big, brawny and aggressive. That the Mercedes 'MLC' and X4 exist shows it's definitely got admirers. I've never driven one though.

lol a fair bit of actual 'hate' for the car haha :p obviously I really like it, and as xsnv has stated it must be working out for manufacturers as more and more of these types are coming on the market.

To those that haven't actually driven one, it is very capable and a very good drive.

It IS better to drive than the X5, having driven a few of both but brand new I'd find it impossible to justify the price difference personally. I got this for the same price as the equivalent spec / age X5 so I'm happy there.

The interior is a great place to be, even if it hasn't changed much since late 2009 it's still very good. Not sure why anyone thinks it would have changed, very rarely does a BMW LCI update a car's interior significantly.

Also the new X6 isn't actually available in the UK yet - it's the end of the year I believe when it's out. You can pre-order them yes. They are double the price I paid for this, so wasn't really on the cards.

I traded my e92 335i for the X6 40d and never regretted it. Also got a re map and it made a huge difference, smoother (especially with the 8 speed box) more economy and went like stink.

Much better than the X5 as everyone has one of them and they are everywhere, because the X6 is fugly not many people have them. Only down side were the 20" wheels as the negative camber on the rear means the tyres do not last long and wear the inside very fast.

Enjoy the ride and enjoy the road presence.

Cool the exact same move I just made then. Do you still have the X6 ?

It's so big you only managed to picture some of it in your first picture.

Not my cup of tea at all, but if you like it that's all that matters.

What's with the obsession with black grills? Screams drug dealer to me.

Coming soon, the X6!

Experience the sheer horror, at closeness to your rear bumper like never before!

*With added 'automated parking diagonally across 4 bays' free option.

if you like it thats great :)
i am not a fan of the looks on the out side and the inside looks like a nicer place to be then my car.

I liked the 335 but I cant get my head around the X6. I would rather have a 5 series, an X5 at a push if I absolutely needed four wheel drive.

The X6 looked very odd to me when they were first released but they've really grown on me, I much prefer them to the X5 now. Nice motor :)

Indeed. It's another bulky/big but medium sized car. I don't understand the fascination.

Ok wrong word, more exclusive as the X5, even the F15 is common on the roads, you don't see many X6's.

No, fancied a change again, recently sold it and have a new Golf GTI PP.

Have you found the parking spaces have shrunk since you got the X6 and the roads seem narrower? :D

335i was epic :) fair play re the X6 - but then you don't need to get your head around it :) It's ideal for me, I like it, it was my cash etc ;) it's an ideal daily vehicle for me and what I want out of it, a 5 series wouldn't fit the bill though I do really like the F10.

Ah ok :) Yes, it's friggin' wide for parking in bays! My underground car park at the flat is fine, the spaces are massive, but my underground space at work... that's another story!!!

The engine in this later x6 is the same as the F10/F11 535d at launch before it got changed to the Technical 1 update in 2011 (on the F10/F11), the X6 never received that update.

That means there are plenty of people who can tune / map that engine.

Yup, this! I'm getting it mapped today as it happens.

black grills are also a sign that your car is actually only a 4 cylinder (at least, that used to be the case). Chrome slats were reserved for the 6cyl units :)
