Need some advice, What am I entitled to? (Gigabyte RMA)

Right words cannot describe how angry I am. Just got in from work and the laptop is here. As soon as I booted the fans ramped themselves up to the max rpm and will not slow down. The laptop is stupidly loud. I've tried turning them down in smart manager. No help.

I am literally done with Gigabyte. Haven't had a chance to test the graphics card out in games yet but this is ridiculous.

Contact Overclockers and return it to them for a refund as per trading standards. Forward copy's of your correspondence with Gigabyte confirming it is faulty.

Yeah i'm going to message them soon. I'm still getting the video bugs occasionally which was the whole reason i sent it in for RMA in the first place :/

Major headache rn

Oh man that's terrible news Robbsy.

However I kinda expected it. Them making an absolute arse of this returns process has probably lost them more money in potential customers than it would have cost them to deal with your case properly.

Telling you to not update drivers was bad enough, but then for the laptop to be fanning full tilt from the second you fire it up on return... wow. Im almost fuming for you.

Make a video log of it if possible. Get evidence together and just go through trading standards if OCUK cant help you here.

Hardware failures aren't unheard of, but the way they are dealt with says a lot about a companys customer service IMO.

I'm really hoping Overclockers can help me out. Mainly because i'm going off to Canada as part of my degree at the end of august so I need this sorted ASAP. I've done a new video now and i will upload it soon. It's getting to the point where it's just upsetting. Going back and forth hoping each time that they will have actually fixed it just to find out its still broken. I really hope that people see all this and it will change their mind about Gigabyte. Not just because i'm mad at them but because i wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this much hassle.

I will keep this thread updated with developments. I should hear back from OCUK and Gigabyte tomorrow.

Did the laptop heat up as badly as it used to before ?

Did the laptop shut down after your play through ?

No it's not shutting itself down anymore. That wasn't the original problem though. It is staying fairly hot. Around 60c idle. As I type this the fans are still at full rpm even with just chrome open.

Tell OcUK about what Gigabyte are doing and direct them to this thread. I had an issue with something which was resolved between OcUK on my behalf and the manufacturer in the end.

Yep I have messaged them and directed them to this thread. Should get a response tomorrow hopefully.

Just a quick update. The fans are so loud that I can hear them from downstairs........

Also Overclockers got back to me and have told me that they are investigating the issue which is good.

Yeah hopefully. There's pretty much no way I will send it back to Gigabyte for another "repair". Simply can't afford it. Its already been a total of 2 weeks and 2 RMA'S

Wait, is it idling at 60 degrees with the fans on max?!

If so, how on earth did the Gigabyte tech not notice this when testing it?!

Sorry this post doesn't really help but I am somewhat shocked by the service you have received here by the Gigabyte technical team. The sort of issues you are stating would easily show in a 5 minute stress test - something I would assume they would do to ensure everything is working before the system is returned to the customer.

They told me they had tested GRID for 3 hours and it was fine. I had it on for 10 minutes and the problem was there. I don't even know how they didn't notice the fans. Its so loud
