God bless frame pacing.

In all of our gaming we have shown you today, in every single game AMD CrossFire feels smoother to us than NVIDIA SLI. That's right, the tables have turned on this issue. In fact we experienced many situations where there was choppiness or stuttering with the two ASUS STRIX cards in SLI. It was noticeable, and when we switched to AMD R9 290X CrossFire; CrossFire just felt smoother.

However, we have also found these NVIDIA GPUs aren't the best, or most valuable in this price range. For $60 less per card ($80 less with rebates shown by Amazon today) at $539 or $519.99 after MIR each or a total of $1,079.98 / $1039.99 after MIR can buy you two ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II video cards in CrossFire. For less money you'll get better performance, however you will not be able to overclock these video cards as much as the ASUS STRIX GTX 780 OC 6GB can overclock in terms of pure GPU and memory clocks. However, the better gameplay experience, performance, and lower overall price will certainly make you feel better about your purchase of the AMD cards.

When it comes to 4K gaming, we can definitively state that two custom cooled AMD Radeon R9 290X GPU based video cards are going to give you the better 4K experience, even though these have 4GB of VRAM compared to the ASUS STRIX 6GB.

Not fancy putting BF4 in the title?

I'm surprised people still care about benchmarks in that joke of a game though to be honest.

Whatever turns you on I suppose :D

BF4 is not in the title, that was just one game i picked. They all show similar results to be honest. :)

Would be more to do with the api that made it feel smoother, gsync vs Amd's api would be a better test, With one costing a lot of money and one meaning switching vendors.

Personally i think theres no card setup at present that are useful to most people wether amd/nvidia for decent 4k gaming. Next gen from both maybe. But at present the way i see 4k, yes the monitors are here but the cards arent.

Yeah but how long mate, as an nvidia user the next batch wont be the full fat maxwell. Hence ill just slap in another 780 on the cheap. Secondhand as the current one only cost £290.00. No proper maxwell till 2015. As for amd, ive no idea what their release schedule is.

I would say it is the other way round

The Titans are perfect for 4K but the monitors are not up to scratch.

At some point in the very near future AMD will also release more 8gb cards but how long before the manufacturers iron out the bugs in the monitors.

Not a chance, the only thing I use a GTX 690 for @4K is to browse the internet and read my emails.:D

lol... :D

290X / 780TI do an ok job of 4K, [H] used MSAA. no need for that at 4K.

Tbh guys, it just shows how good the original titans are, out a good while now and cope well at 4k. I cant see myself moving to as high a res as that for a while. Ill be happy enough to go 2560x1440 with g-sync, but not much choice in that department at present. The asus swift monitor is too expensive. And im wondering if a 4790k will even be enough to drive two high end cards on such a setup. Been very dissapointed with haswell in general, 3 i7's and all have been underwhelming.

they higher settings than i would use at 4k anyway
avg 60fps is only just playable to me
must be some low dips there

maybe the 8gb cards make sense in trifire i dont see it tho :)
think they just wasting time until the new cards now!
