Voice your opposition to the Israeli actions for the past 65+ years

They should stop fighting and seek diplomacy. Not just a meretricious effort either with no intent, but a genuine effort at diplomacy where they are willing to compromise in order to get a deal. Something we nearly had under the Clinton administration until Arafat trashed the deal and decided to go back to terrorism.

What like the west bank? they have stopped fighting and what has gotten them? More illegal settlements, more Palestines ,imprisoned, made refugees, Olive farms uprooted & more walls.

If Israeli wanted peace they would stop the settlements announce they are want direct peace talks without preconditions, they would give the right to return for Palestinians.

Israeli version of peace is one state solution.

Israel's GPO just sent out a notice telling journalists that entry and exit from Gaza suspended till further notice.

Not mention that Foreign journalists must sign a waiver "Declaring they they won't file a law suit for damage, injure of death" Which is a violation of international law.

There is only one side unwilling to negotiate at all and that is because Palestine know from 60 years of proof what disgraceful liars the Israeli's are. They have pushed forward every day in some way since the state of Israel was established. During ceasefires they still arrest and kill Palestinians and they still surround their land, lock them in, prevent them being able to grow properly as a nation/people. Steal their homes and land. With or without a ceasefire or fighting Israeli's have been slowly taking over and killing Palestine. I wouldn't accept any deal, because ultimately they are just setting a new lower bar that Israel will deem acceptable.

Say the country gets split 50/50 and Palestine agree, then Israel start pushing for 55/45, and it only seems like a small amount of land in dispute, then they go for 5% more, and 5% more. Then the next big deal to try and end the war(because that is what it is) will be set at 70/30, but then Israel push for 5% more, and they'll do it over and over till Palestine are gone. If Palestine agrees to some new made up bull**** border Israel comes up with, they are just showing Israel that what they are doing is working. They'll attack again and then push for a new worse deal each time. You can't negotiate with people that have broken every agreement they've ever made. They break every international law, they've broken their word with their biggest allies ffs, let alone their worst enemies.

They are killing just enough to weaken Palestine, pushing back and taking a bit more land to make it that much harder for them to survive. Then they stop before being taken to international war crimes court. Before the UN goes, okay, we're taking it back because you can't play nice with others. They oppress, hurt, kill, mistreat Palestinians until they react. When they react and maybe a couple of people are killed(less than they kill during supposed ceasefires on almost every occasion), they use this as an excuse to absolutely smash them to pieces. They kill indiscriminately just right up to the limit they can get away with before they turn everyone against them. Then they'll stop, they'll pretend to be the good guys, they'll make out like they chose to do the right thing and ask for peace, while denouncing the Palestinians.

Then they'll wait a few more years, continue to treat them like crap, continue to kill the odd Palestinian here till in another 5 years the Palestinians will retaliate again and we get another round of Israel going all out offensive and killing just exactly as many Palestinians as they can get away with... again.

They'll repeat this till there is no Palestine left, till their land is gone and most of the people are dead.

There is no compromise, Israel won't stop, simple as that. At this point all funding should be cut off, their corrupt and war warmongering leaders removed and UN peace keepers stationed there to remove all illegal settlements and enforce the borders.

I support Israel
Generally speaking or specifically during this offensive? Either way I'd like to understand more.

Maybe my understanding of history is incorrect. Maybe either side can be convincing enough to generate support. Maybe you're an Israeli.

But even then, I cannot understand how anyone can come out and support what is happening in Gaza.

The UK doesn't want to say no but won't say yes because it would upset the U.S.

they need to grow some balls. I see the UK likes throwing around the big I am at France about selling warships to Russia, but can;t quite muster the balls to say something about women and children being slaughtered like fish in a barrel in palestine.

oh dear, there really is a price on life. If you are a palestinian living in a ****hole you obviously don't qualify for protection under international law..............

Good article on Gideon Levy, wish there were more like him in Israel.

Some years ago I attended a lecture on the Palestine-Israel conflict which included Gideon Levy and a chap called Ilan Pappé. It was interesting to say the least and Ilan Pappe is somewhat controversial and worth reading, if you are interested in that kind of thing.

It was a one sided proposal, biased and inadequate.

The problem is that international law applies to everyone, including Hamas. If the UN are going to continue holding Israel to a higher set of standards then Hamas the rest of the forward thinking world will ignore.

The problem is that Israel as a Sovereign State and as a signatory to The Geneva Conventions and A Full Member of the United Nations has a higher standard to uphold by definition...Hamas is neither a member or a Sovereign State. People seem to be confusing Hamas with The Palestinian Authority, they are not that same.

As far as Israel and the US (amongst others) Hamas is a terrorist militant organisation, it doesn't gave the same rights or recourse as Israel, therefore it also doesn't hold the same obligations under International Law.

Palestine have signed Geneva Convention with regards rules of war.

I refer to Hamas in general terms because they operate outside of any laws, national or international. Of course a terrorist organization can't sign International treaties.

They are the elected representative of Palestinians in Gaza, their militants should be subject to the same scrutiny as the IDF regardless of their terrorist status. This fact was demonstrated yesterday by the international community in rejecting the one sided proposal.

Typical UN. theyre a lot like Amnesty, not tackling the difficult issues because they are unlikely to succeed. You can't direct one party to do something when the other side is free to do what it wants. That's ridiculous.

That's a ****ing brilliant article. Thanks so much for posting it. Unless one dismisses it automatically as Anti-Israeli propaganda, I think that it provides an excellent view point from someone who clearly lives exactly what he's talking about.

If you can manage to get through the whole thing, it's bloody insightful.
