Another Tale of Korean Monitor Woe

The problem with raising a PayPal dispute is that paypal will ask you to return the monitor with a tracking number, so that wont really help you either
Yeh, in hindsight I probably shouldn't have put that in, as well as the IT professional bit ;-)
I'm not massively hopeful anyway so see what happens. I should start to write my negative feedback.

You've gone in a bit heavy with that email tbh mate :/
Threatening negative feedback is also the wrong approach imho

I know you only had it a short period but even a UK store would very likely ask you to return it rather than have you attempt to fix with parts they send.
What if you damaged it whilst inside ? no future warranty
How did you prove that the PCB is faulty? Have you opened it already?

All questions the seller will now likely ask.
As above PP will request you send it back before refunding.
An eBay case may have a better outcome tbh

Agree with the above, you should always start off polite and only threaten consequences if things have already started to get gnarly :/

Thanks both, totally appreciate your comments.
I should probably have given more background on this, but I didn't want to bore you to death with a long long story.
This has been going on since the 3rd July, I was ignored to start off twice for more than a week after sending some very polite queries explaining my situation and asking for guidance from the seller.
I only threatened consequences in the above mail after getting pretty much no-where. I hate it when people start heavy handed, I always think you get much further when you start almost on the uber side of polite then only turn arsey if that avenue has totally failed.

I only did this because I'd exhausted other options and the seller had started to ignore me again.

"I know you only had it a short period but even a UK store would very likely ask you to return it rather than have you attempt to fix with parts they send. "
I'm not sure I agree here, if I had something from a UK seller that failed that quickly, I would expect to be shipped a replacement and return the DOA unit in the replacements box.

I asked the seller to do this, but they were not willing, hence why I went down the repair route which I know isn't ideal, but it seems to have been a common-ish practise from some other sellers.
I was offered a refund on return, at first with no refunded return shipping. I pushed this and explained that this was my least preferred option as I stood to lose shipping, import taxes and the fact that I wanted another monitor would mean that I would need to pay taxes all over again. The seller then offered to refund return shipping, but would not pay this up front, only on receipt. OK, I kind of get this, but again I've seen more than one story where a Korean seller picked up the shipping cost in advance, especially when an item fails so quickly.
Being a cynical IT b@stard, I saw this as the seller pushing an option which they knew was very unattractive to me. It also introduced a risk that they may find an excuse not to refund the item cost and therefore return shipping as well - in my crazy mind anyway. That way I would be item, import tax and return shipping out of pocket.

I'm past the 30 days since estimated shipping date now and I get the feeling anyway that as the seller has offered a refund on return, an ebay case would ultimately get no-where. But, yep, fair cop, I haven't tried this.

Again, the seller made no attempt to troubleshoot this with me. They could likely have reached a conclusion with the assistance of the manufacturer, and offered an approproiate solution via replacement parts of even a return, but they didn't even try. I hoped that this was what the included warranty would cover, but to be fair I may be expecting too much her.

Again, thanks for the comments. I think I'm pretty much resigned now to attempted repair of this myself. Hopefully that works out and I go back to proper 1440p gaming from the misery that is 22 inch 1650 x 1050 !!! :-(
