The theory of evolution is that humans came from descendents of ape-like animals who came from other species & this goes all the way back to coming from bacteria 3.8 billion years ago.

I am really curious how this thread will evolve. I really want to know the christian point of view, why they choose to believe in evolution or not. I see a lot of stereo types on tv and news. I don't think thats the actual representation of the christian faith, but more or less a small branch.

I mostly see these kind of representation from the christians unfortunately.

No, please. Just... Somebody just close it before it happens...

Y'know, damage limitation.

I know you want to... Mods? :p

If you want to discuss such a serious and intellectual subject, at least put the effort in to spelling words in the title fully and not using awful shorthand. There is no excuse for anyone now to be using "u" for "you" and so on. There just isn't.

I don't know enough about the science to comment properly I know however that Charles Darwin had significant COE influence and he rebelled against it. By instinct(or teachings, upbringings etc) I would say no, I can go with adaptation to a degree, but I don't believe we came from apes, I know that the evolutionist still can't join all the scientific dots and I don't believe they ever will.

They have been joined.

Why did I even post in here... *crying*

I believe that we are all descended from ogres, and that the spirit of Christ used to reside within these very forums.

I'm not convinced in the evolution theory but I'm not a creationist nutter either.

people say humans getting taller etc is a sign of evolution being true but it could just be nutrition and better health.

Most Christians I know take a soft approach to evolution, either glossing over it/not enquiring too deep as to that specific topic in the relevant context in the bible or believe that the relevant sections in the bible are a more generalised version of events that are merely lacking in detail as to the specifics of the mechanics i.e. the days of creation not being literal 24 hour days.

Seems to be a fairly small but quite vocal minority that have a hard anti-evolution stance.

Personally its not something I've spent too much time thinking about.

So the fact that we have 98% shared DNA code with chimps is just fluke? How would you explain that?

No you don't know enough about science, because if you did you wouldn't have moronic views.

Some people are not grasping time is what the problem is. Small minded anti evolutionist's think in hundreds of years and cannot grasp differences that can happen over millions of years.

I suppose your new so won't understand how annoying this thread is. Use the search function, and you will find about 1000 threads of a similar nature, then read the thread about debating, and you will realise that this is not going to end with an answer, just a bunch of self appointed know it alls, babbling on and moaning about tiny minor grammar and spelling mistakes, making others view points garbage.

Otherwise do your own RE homework.
