NEW POST 9

Hi all,

This past week I've noticed my internet speed get a bit slower. Did a speedtest last night and had a whopping 3mb download but was capable of getting closer to 15mb. Opted to reset my router a few times to see if a new address would speed things up again but no im now down to 0.5mb download

Theres some work going on down the road from me but thats with the lighting rather than anything with BT so I'm wondering is there any way i can check online if theres any BT work going on just now which may be affecting it?

Resetting your modem many times quickly will massively reduce your speed as DLM will see it as a fault on your line. No idea what "address" you thought might get you better speed?

It was resetting it over the past couple of days, but maybe thats too quick as well?

I believe that if you reset your router for a few minutes you get assigned a new IP address. I've done that previously and it put my speed back up to normal levels.

www.roadworks.org i think is the address... put your postcode in top right and your looking for a telephone icon on the map for BT work.. you might have to zoom in and out of the map for them to appear.

Weird that this got bumped by others. Was about to post again to say I'm back up at more normal speeds now. Tested yesterday and I was up to 4mb and today I'm up to over 10mb download with my max being 15mb from the exchange.

Minor Update as it appears to be happening again (although not been resetting my hub)

Again there are roadworks in the street down from me but the main issue appears to be on my pc rather than any other device.

E.g if I'm watching something on iplayer on my tv, it streams fine, same when i watch stuff on my phone upstairs. But at the moment if I'm watching BT sport on my pc it buffers and stops working. Even if I'm trying to get onto steam to play CS:GO I'm getting the message that it couldn't open a connection to a server.
