Every time I set the memory to run at 2133Mhz the system fails to boot and even at 1866-2000 the system is unstable.

I've set the voltage to 1.65V and timings to 11,11,11,31 as per the documentation.

I'm using a Gigabyte Z97X-SOC, why won't the memory run at full speed it's rated too? motherboard limitation or bad memory?

Maybe it's unstable because it's being used in conjunction with a high overclock? What are you running your cpu at

More specifics please?? Full system settings and DRAM settings.

Take a pic of the auto settings the system is setting in bios and also where does the post display stop when you try to boot at 2133.

SOC can easily do that speed so something else is going on here.

You tried 2 T timing?? TRFC like around 250.

Everything is set on auto under timings but for 11,11,11,32 I've set manually, according to CPU-Z tRFC is 320 and it's using T2.

It's currently running at 4.4GHz, x44.

It just fails to boot and displays the usually message to enter the bios or set defaults..

be sure to run latest bios, that might help

should run at those speeds just fine

Will try that later.

This is ment to be a pre-overclocked bundle from OCUK, lets just say their quality control and stress testing leaves a lot to be desired.

Their saved profile was useless, starting again from scratch as it was never set-up corrected to start with, memory was not at the correct speeds and voltage was set far too high.

Updating bios appears to have helped a little, now it boots into windows but is not stable at 2133 at rated timings or voltage.

1800 seemed fine though which is progress I guess.

EDIT: Tried 2133 with increased memory voltage and timings 12,12,12,35 just to see if it could handle it and everything seems fine, 30min of OCCT and it seems stable.

Same problems!

I'm using vulcan gold 16gb memory I got from overclockers in an a10 6700 htpc I got them to build. The first batch crashed all the time and eventually wouldn't boot so was replaced. But every few days the always on htpc crashed, did weird things and has bsod issues with the second set of memory they sent me. Memory checks found nothing. So I bought another 16gb of corsair stuff and it fixed the htpc, no more crashes! I put the vulcan stuff in an i5 3570 machine I built thinking it just didn't get on with the amd. But I'm getting these bsod issues. Memory tests still find nothing. It's rated at 2133mhz and it's now running at 1600 mhz so I don't know what to do. Wouldn't get vulcan ram again.

I find it runs better at lower speeds, and is nothing like stable in both machines at its rated spec.

Tried it again with the exact same settings as earlier and it won't even do 2-3 minutes of OCCT without crashing.

So I'm cutting my loses with this bundle and returning it.

It's meant to be a pre-overclocked bundle, it should have been set up correctly to start with and been 100% stable which it wasn't, as above unless I drop the memory speed it's unstable.

Very disappointed, been a wasted weekend.

Stock CPU and test only memory. One stick at a time XMP and memtest. Set Memory voltage manually to 1.65v.

When the red post disply throws back number where does it stop before resets and says overclock failed?? eg C4, C0 etc......

Those bundles do get well tested I have seen the process in action myself.

I need a working system so back with my trusty Gigabyte X58-DS4 and i7 920 at 4.2GHz.

I've had issues with memory compatibility before but never expected to get it from a bundle.

I never ran memtest as I don't have a usb stick handy but did try at stock with the memory at 2133MHz and it was unstable. There is no point trying to overclock or use a system when the memory doesnt want to play, it's a waste of time.

As it's an overclocked bundle have you posted in the Customer Service section of the forum?

It's really up to OcUK to get this sorted for you.
