Rampage IV: No Speaker Detection.

I upgraded to the RIVE a few days ago and was using my Sound Blaster DX, no problems.
I removed the card today and it seems the board will not detect my speakers.
The only sound I can get is via DP on the monitor speakers. I tried switching to DVI, but the only sound output selections I get is Digital.
I have done a quick search on google and it seems this is a common thing but no solution. Some peeps say it is because the onboard sound chip is DOA.
So, is there a fix for this or do I need to RMA the board, something I am not looking forward to. I have a spare X79 board, so it would 'nt be to much of an inconvenience.
Any help, greatly appreciated as always.

and the audio isnt disabled in the BIOS?

I have to put my hand up to doing just his a few years back

figured it would be but it was the last thing I checked as I couldn't remember turning it off (and still cant to be honest)

Got my board back today and not very happy. Spent the last 3 hours trying to get into windows, which I have managed twice and 5 minutes later it shuts down.
Only managed to get in by selecting Bios2 and I can't even select that now. Even tried to use the USB Bios Flashback method, but does'nt seem to work, as when I hold down the button the bios led does'nt flash at any point. Also can't seem to select bios 2 anymore.
Looks like it will be going back.
