Nonsense, major upgrades to a huge API like DirectX don't happen within a year - DX12 was almost certainly being worked on for a long time before Mantle was even announced.

About 12 Months + after Mantle, both AMD and Nvidia have been working with Microsoft since before Mantle with Microsoft not working with AMD on adding some elements of Mantle into DX12 until after its release.

If Microsoft knew about it they weren't interested in this level of API until they saw what it could do, its also interesting that they didn't go on a PR defensive until after Mantle was released.

Weird, every time I see Mantle and AMD mentioned in the same sentence, DICE seems to be conveniently left out so that it looks like it was something developed by AMD alone. Give credit where its due, its not an AMD only API.

AMD GVR.......records the last 20 minutes, not 10.

Why do you call it AMD GVR? Raptr isn't anything to do with AMD as far as I can tell and is just a third party game hosting program. Happy to be told I am wrong but I didn't realise that AMD bought Raptr or brought GVR to its users and was the guy who worked on RadeonPro (again, happy to be wrong).

I have said many times its not just AMD, its a collaboration between Game Developers and AMD, as it should be.

I just copy and paste what Bru wrote and edited, AMD and Raptr are parters, they work together on this. its a bit, semantics and a bit trivial isn't it?

AMD DVR.......records the last 10 minutes.

It's Amd's Api just like DX is Microsoft's. Amd and Nvidia both have a hand in DX but it's still Microsoft's.

Shadowplay is further along the road when comparing to DVR so atm is a more complete package. The results i have seen on DVR are very encouraging though for where it's at.

Yer maybe but my point is it isn't AMD GVR and it is a third party app that works on AMD as well as nVidia by all accounts. I have not used it personally, so can't comment on quality but will give it a play in a bit and see what is what.

It records at 1080P indefinitely, pre-recording replay buffer is 1080P upto 14 minutes and 720P upto 20 minutes. ^^^^^^^

Yes, and Nvidia users also get the AMD rewards, As any Raptr user does.

Direct X was created by 3 MS employee's. Mantle was created by EA/DICE and AMD.

Nvidia and AMD may have had input somewhere along the lines and maybe still do, but it certainly wasn't created by them.

Dx11 what we are using now had input from Nvidia and AMD just like Dice with Mantle. Essentially Mantle is AMD just like DX11 is Microsoft.

Ok so your want to resort to semantics, fine I will stand by that quoted statement AMD's DVR records only he last 10 minutes, it is the new version renamed AMD's GVR that now records 20 minutes.

while your here humbug perhaps you could tell us all which one of the two programmes is better at the auto recording in the background up to 20 mins at 1080p.

I don't know if that is true or not, but Direct3D (Microsoft's graphics API) was originally created by an independant software company for medical imaging and CAD, then Microsoft bought it because they wanted a 3D graphics API for Windows 95 and it was incorperated into DirectX 2.0 (DX didn't originally have 3D capabilities).

The confusion here I think is due to most people these days saying DirectX when they mean Direct3D. DirectX is actually a family of API's like DirectDraw (2D), Direct3D (3D), DirectPlay (Networking), DirectSound (Audio), etc.
