The time has come to go benching LN2 with some MSI R290X Lightnings in the quest for more world records.

Team OCUK 8Pack and Hivizman will be trying to take several global WR live on our Twitch channel from 11am Thursday the 31st July and 11am Friday 1st of August.

In pre testing I took a global WR in Firestrike I pushed the GPU a lot further too but will keep those scores as back ups!! See the screen shot below and HWbot link for the score.

We will be benching all the modern 3D stuff so tune in and watch us putting the Lightning through its paces on X79 platform.

I am thinkiong this will be fun yes!!! Lets see how far the cards will go and what we can take. I wanna try Firestrike again and take it higher live.
 
Just out of curiosity, how many of the GPUs/CPUs will survive this overclocking/benchmarking? Or are the benchmarks too short to do any damage?
 
^^ The CPU I have a while and its fine over a long period so far. All my Ivy E are fine.

GPU's is different. In testing I ran for two hours no issues. 4 Way is very complex everything gets very cold when running all the slots stacked out. I am hoping all the cards survive such a long session. Often they do, but sometimes inevitably they don't. Each one of these cards I have binned so finding other great cards can be tough.

Hold you mean to say you rifle through the 290X Lighting stock in the OCUK warehouse nick all the best cards and leave the crappy ones for the customers? :confused:
 
NO I never bin anything from stock!!! MSI send me cards to test. I tested like 7 to find four really good. When I say really good I mean 1550 - 1600 core and 1700 Mems on LN2. With 290X a great Air card may not be good on LN2 as some 290X dont scale at all with voltage and cold. You have to test all cards on LN2. Also to bench under extreme cold you need to mod the 0.95 reference voltage to 1.25v. I could never take a soldering iron to stock units.

The only card I have in the rig that is not mine is Gibbos sample. Very strong mems 1750!!

He's in the UK so yes London time mate, (UTC) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London.
