I like his early work (first few tours, the office, all the XFM work and podcasts) but since then he just seems to have... lost it.
I prefer Stephen Merchant if I'm honest. Always have, I think Derek is a prime example of the fact that Merchant was in charge of subtlety and whit when it came to there partnership.
I feel bad that Merchant finally scored a true Hollywood role but had to depict the worst possible incarnation of himself. I hope we see more of him in movies because he's really been a hilarious addition in all the rest. Table 19 came out last week so he's bound to be decent in that.
