Looking at having an afternoon tea somewhere in London but I've never been to one before. It has to be within walking distance of train/tube. Anyone done this before and have any recommendations?

Brown's Hotel was about £50 each when I went last. Lovely grub, but totally insane prices for what is, essentially, sandwiches.

I went to the British museum, was a present for my 30th from work. Was around £50 per person I think, never been for afternoon tea before so can't really compare but it was nice. And had a museum to wander round before and after.

When are you going? If it's soon lot of the good ones will be booked up. My Mrs had to book the Ritz a long time in advance.

You can do a 'man's' afternoon tea now at a lot of the places, mini burgers etc. The Mandeville and Sanctum, Soho spring to mind.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far.

It was actually going to be in the next month but looking in to it more it seems like loads of places are booked up so may have to rethink, maybe one of those man's afternoon teas! Thanks

How very pip pip of you :p

Pg tips corner of Trafalgar square?

Nm re read that lol.

Everywhere in London is within walking distance of a tube! :p

As mentioned, The Ritz. It's basically THE place to do it if you want to show off on Facebook.;)

Save your money, pack a nice lunch from waitrose and go a public park on a sunny day. You will enjoy it way more!
