Afternoon tea in London

No afternoon tea, as in tea, scones/cakes, sandwiches - it's a common English (British?) thing I thought? I think it used to be called something else like high tea?

I've done it a few times and it's rather enjoyable.

Clearly it's a treat and an experience and not something one would do all the time! I think you can do afternoon tea for a lot less - but to get the whole pomp and ceremony in a decent place you have to pay for it.

thought you were loaded ? didn't you used to spend crazy money on league of legends skins?

This forum never fails to amuse me, always someone ready to pounce on anything involving how people choose to spend their cash.

When are you going? If it's soon lot of the good ones will be booked up. My Mrs had to book the Ritz a long time in advance.

You can do a 'man's' afternoon tea now at a lot of the places, mini burgers etc. The Mandeville and Sanctum, Soho spring to mind.

Sanctum Soho has a terrific vibe about it too, especially if you can get up on the rooftop bar.

Aye, seems one of them things people do to say they have done it and try impress their friends etc .

Id rather go somewhere nice for dinner the have a walk around one of the many awesome buildings in the UK that are a few quid or free.

But hey ho, each to their own and all that... I waste money in places I shouldn't so it's not fair to judge others.
