You know you've worked in IT too long when...

... when you can't remember your family and friends birthdays but you can remember the IPv4 addresses for all 54 domain controllers across your organisation

.

When all customer support feels like you're talking to this guy :p

tech-support-joke-backup_zps5ebc7bf4.jpg

..... when you can no longer be bothered to forward joke emails because you've seen them all before

... when dilbert is a documentary and not a comedy

... when people know you're going to bite their heads off if they ask you to fix their computer again

When some neighbours in your street or friends ask what line of work you work in you don't mention IT your some office admin or something . By accident I mentioned to a neighbour I worked in IT Support and they then tell the whole street that you can fix their PC's.

When you wish you could create a group policy for users to apply common sense.

This
plus,
when you know you have no patience for the stupid, and you know that all your users are stupid

ME - "can I get you to log off please"
User - "did you want me to log off or shut down
ME - *FACEPALM* "Log off"
User - "Okay I have shut it down for you, what next"
*line goes dead*

This happened to me twice this week. Although to be fair, nobody ever logs off, their PCs are either on and logged in or switched off, so logging off's a bit of a novelty. Still frustrating as he'll though :)

Yes :( I used to not mind helping but people take the mick... badly! Then any problem after that was caused by you and you should now fix that too!
