Cheeky Three (re: 2gb Tether cap)

Why are three so rubbish at updating their website.
As in the op, it says 2gb of tethering for all, but if you look at the plans they still say no tethering allowed.

So which is it.

The 2GB tether limit is for new 24 month plan with a phone, SIM only plan nothing has changed.

Tried a 3 PAYG SIM today, let me tether all day to my laptop from my Samsung S2 at 10mb+ speeds on 3G without issue ?.

It would seem most of their staff had any idea what was going on  A cheaper sim only plan that allowed an amount of tethering would have suited me. One Plan would be OK but is overkill for me. Don't understand why they have introduced tethering restrictions on new 24 month phone contract plans and not on the sim only plans. If they have a congestion problem then it seems a strange thing to do unless there are some new sim only plans in the pipeline?

On the subject of congestion then my Three service seems to suffer badly from it. Anything using 3G on my phone has become desperately slow with more web page time outs than load at times. Not in a built up area either with loads of subscribers. Been trying EE payg and they are a little better but not enough to fill me with confidence. Not right sure who to go with in a month but it'll be sim only and 30 day contract. It's between EE and Three as the other two aren't very good in my locale.

I've not tethered lately but when needed in the past if home BB has been down or power has been off and never been intercepted by Three ;)

I used to get similar speeds to your example posted above with the exception of download being around 6Mb/s which was great. Pings and upload were the same. Now pings are in 4 figures and speeds into small fractions of a Mb/s  All dropped off badly in the last 6 weeks.

Your the type of person who ruins it for EVERYONE else

What utter nonsense, using what he is allowed to, same as me. I pay extra for an unlimited service as I need unlimited. There's only one person to blame and that's three for offering it at an unsustainable price. They should bring back the one plan and offer it at like £40 range.

I'm surprised they haven't simply offered a power user plan , priced accordingly for those that get value from high usage tethering, high enough to keep casual users using it as a torrent client in lieu of a broadband connection.

Personally speaking, a 2gb tether plus free 0800 numbers suits my usage better.

I was about to sign onto 3 one only personal plan and wanted the unlimited tethering not that I would unlimited but wanted about 3-6 GB a month MAX. Now talk of 2gb cap and I might as well stay with EE, They are offering me 18 for 4gb and unlimited calls/txt only sim plan. Its not only cheaper, but I get unlimites minutes and more tethering data.

So is three really capping their data plan to 2GB?

I get different answers depending where you read/talk to.

thanks all
