My New Car

No one traded anything in mate, it was first owned by VW and I am the first real owner. The Branch Manager had my car as a lease since March. It was £39,995 with the extras, brought down to £33,885 I think and I picked it up for what I mentioned above :)

And mate, these go like stink! some Golf was behind me after flashing to let me out. And I stuck in race and I was gone!

Nice car :)

On the high cost comments : Whenever someone posts up their GTR it's followed by 'want' & 'awesome' posts, for what is a £60k+ Nissan.
Similarly, this Golf is a fast, high spec, quality product so it is going to be costly.

Jealous! I had one of these ordered via a lease deal until VW decided they would not follow up with any personal lease deals for it :(

Hope you enjoy it and those 19" pret wheels are so much nicer than the standard ones!

My only gripe....SAT NAV mapping looks dated, Radio is a little intermittent it has the DAB one and sometimes my sound just stops, think its caused by my HTC ONE, oh and the HTC ONE doesn't connect properly always reads "ERROR"

The mapping looks better in the Discovery Pro slightly and you get 3D but it costs an extra £1200 to spec up so most don't have it.

Set it so that the DAB switches to FM when the signal goes in the settings and you will not have the drop out.

Nearly went for the blue one of those but not a fan of the quad exhaust look so went for the GTI PP same colour as bingham67's. Getting 40mpg out of mine, best was 45mph on a trip up to Scotland. You need to disconnect the "soundicator" though to hear the proper engine growl.;)

It would be if were credible, which it isn't.

It's a modern 2L turbo so really that depends on your definition of 'town'. Round Shrewsbury, which is definitely a town, my 2.8L Golf would've got that. Round Sheffield, not so much..
However when I'm getting 23mpg from a V6 and 21mpg from a V8 in the stop start hilly hell of Sheffield, 29mpg 'around town' in a modern 2L is not that unrealistic.

Yes, I guess perhaps the definition of town could be 'not actually town'.

My modern diesel won't do 29mpg around town so I somewhat doubt that a Golf R will unless 'town' involves long relaxing wafts along the city bypass more often than it does anything else!

Town is generally regarded as cold starts, traffic lights, etc. Not conducive to 30mpg from 300bhp petrol cars.

It's a nice car, but you should have shopped around...so many nice vehicles out there for 30k. Definitely better than a Golf anyway.

I get about 30mpg, and 26mpg when I was in race mode :)
