Hello all, its been 3 years since I last purchased a monitor and now my present one has give up the ghost I am not sure what to look for and what would be best for my around £300 budget

I can see some monitors are over 200hz some are classed as IPS Monitors:confused:

Could really do with some help with you guy and gales in the know:)

Thanks

Hi

If you just want a monitor for general web browsing or just playing the odd game ect then a IPS monitor would be your best bet.

If you are more of a gamer then a TN 120hz/144hz monitor would be preferable.

Have a read of this it will give you an idea off how different panel technology works IPS/TN ect:)

What do you use your PC for ordinarily? General desktop use? Photo/video editing? Gaming?

Do you game competitively? Have you used a high refresh rate (120/144Hz) or high resolution (1440/4K etc) screen before?

Do you value image quality over refresh rate for gaming? Or vice versa? Is colour accuracy essential to your photo/video editing?

:)

Hello, my present monitor is an Alienware AW2310 120hz, which unfortunately has just got a fault where the screen keeps going black, I have contacted Dell who have explained its just out of warranty and they do not do repairs only replace monitors that are in warranty.
I have been running a clan for the past few years so yes I do game a fair amount, not as much as I used to mind.

Do you value image quality over refresh rate for gaming?
I do value image quality and obviously refresh rate to, best of both worlds would be nice.
Regarding the EIZO Foris FG2421 23.5" 240Hz is there an issue with image quality due to its high refresh rate ?

Thanks for the help

The Eizo already mentioned would probably be a good bet then. 120Hz refresh rate with 240Hz acceleration (inserting a blank frame in-between each frame to eliminate motion blur further I think) and it is apparently a fairly decent VA panel, so the image quality should be superior compared to the more common TN 120/144Hz panels from the likes of BenQ:

For photo or video editing alone I would probably pick something more like this (over-budget): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-018-AO&groupid=17&catid=1120

But it has a 60Hz refresh rate.

Of course the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz will only be truly felt if you play at over 60fps.

There are also cheaper 1440P panels such as this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-022-HO&tool=3

But I am unsure of the quality.
