they say your school days were the best days of your life , would you agree?

No, I hated school although I was in the top classes. As much as I dislike going to work every day, I never have the same feeling of dread as I used to have before going to school each day.

Absolutely not, worst years of my life.

First year of uni was great. The year internship in California fantastic. First 2 years of PhD and so far the first year of being a father.

Secondary school was ok until the third year when I was bullied. The last year was ok though. Sunday nights were even more depressing than now. Best days of my life? No chance. I think "best days of your life" is either a parable of a fool, or someone who went to a really posh school.

Sixth form was the best. Free periods of just hanging around the school with friends, but still having 100+ people to move between. Work was hard then but looking back it was easy.

University was also awesome, more free time but with less friends and more work (Eventually).

What constitutes as bullying for those who say they were bullied. Called a name or had your head ritually put through a locker or what?

For me they were type who would bully and would only stop if it resulted in a punch up. And when it did, they got their elder brothers to help.

At my school we had protection rackets, slavery and forced disobedience of school rules which resulted in canings detentions and conduct reports which resulted in more canings and detention, that's aside from constant full time teasing, ridicule and regular beatings, I occasionally wonder what happened to the victims lives sfter school.

I wasn't bullied and managed to keep a few of my friends from being bullied but it wasn't a nice time for many of my contemporaries.

Not long finished my first year of University and will be starting my second in September. Have to say its far better than school in most ways :)

Hated very single second, of every single minute, of every single hour, of every single day I was at school.

So no I wouldn't agree OP!

College on the other hand was brilliant :)

Today before I even read this I went on google maps to have a look at school I left at 15 - it is now called El Jared thingy Muslim hate school in Birmingham and am sure it's one of those that was in national news - Things have changed in last 55 yrs - Nice to see the steel railing's are still in place and one at top of drive is still bent - My aunty did that when she froze while I was in the car with her and she rammed car dead center on end of railings - Car was a Austin 7 pickup and it bent front axle to about 45 deg.

My Dad was school caretaker and used to buy us old cars from Medway spares at bottom of road for a fiver - we cleaned plugs and put petrol in and sold them for 15 quid.

I had best Math's teacher ever at this school - went from bottom to top of class in 2 yrs. - Only these last two years were good for me.

Best days in our lives I that we don't have to work and pay tax and worry about bills etc. Aside from that, no, I hated school! Rarely went, had no interest in the subjects and generally couldn't wait to get out of there.

Absolutely loved every single moment of school. Even the few bad moments then seem like great experiences now. I've met people from every walk of life though school; doctors, dentists, psychologists, drug dealers, drug abusers, police officers, Muslims, personal trainers, homosexuals, goons, convicted criminals, weirdos, murderers, the list is endless.

When I was at school I used to pay more attention to people's actions and interactions than the teacher. I'm now a bit of an armchair psychologist, I love understanding people and their motives, etc., I regularly meet a friend who is a qualified psychologist (not for treatment, but to discuss psychology).

One of many memories of school: Picking up my 4-and-a-half foot tall mate (with permission) and throwing him across a row of chessboards while people were playing chess on them. I believe any player who thought "these guys are hilarious", enjoyed school, and anyone who thought "FFS my important game of chess is ruined and I hate these jokers" were too serious for school and are one of the people who would probably be on this forum saying they didn't like school.
