Guardians of the Galaxy

Plot holes galore and the movie doesn't stick to the original comic book depiction of the characters. That is to say Drax wasn't really Destroyer enough for me. Well done on the Racoon. His vocabulary exceeds that of his teammates.


Edit: Forget that. They used the 2006 incarnation of Drax which saw him severely dumbed down.

People complaining about plot holes are probably the same people who'd complain if the film was 4 hours long so as to avoid plot holes.

Who the hell cares about plot holes?

I wouldn't say that. Four hours for the Guardians of the Galaxy would have done me fine if they had got consistency of the plot right.

Only in very broad strokes that are less similarities between the two and more the shared influence of previous sci-fi rag tag bunch of misfit stories.
 
Is there a thread for those that have actually seen this so we can comment without spoiling it for everybody else?
 
Watched this at the weekend and really didn't think it was as good as most people here. Overall I enjoyed it but didn't feel as enthused as I thought I would be..

I'm a huge Marvel fan but this one didn't do it for me :(
 
Best Marvel film so far for me. Enjoyed it more than the Avengers.

Gamora was kinda lame, but the other 4 stole the show.
 
Although it's got a rating of 12a I thought it might have been more 'adult' in content, but sadly not. I found nothing new or good in it at all to be honest but maybe that's because I'm not comic book fan. Mind you I thought Watchmen was 'ok' and to quite a lesser degree both of the Thor films.

This for me was just another load of 'turn off your brains' kids entertainment. The usual formula of 99% special effects, laudable acting, silly characters, archaic jokes and all nicely wrapped up in sickly sentiment.
 
Just got back from seeing it. Really really good. Funny, action packed and down right enjoyable all over.
 
Best Marvel film so far, IMO. I was thoroughly entertained from start to finish, and never once looked at my watch to see how long it had been going for. Something which can't be said for just about any of the others.
