Which GTX770?

Hi

Want a GTX770. Must be the 4Gb version; and there must be a full cover waterblock available for it, because I am planning to watercool it in the future.

For now though, I'll be air cooling. It's a small case - Cooler Master N200 (link) so I was wondering - should I get be getting a blower style card or would I be ok with the open style of cooler which might heat up the case a lot more? I'm also planning to SLI at some point, and I think two open style coolers would be a really bad idea in this case, but hopefully I'll be watercooling anyway by then...

So - which card?

Why not get the R9 280X? :D Better value, as fast/bit more fast!

Could do that actually - I only really looked at nVidia because that's what my last card was (gt220 - so this is a BIG step up lol) but I have no aversion to AMD. What do other people think?

Does anyone know where one can get the 6Gb version of the R9 280X in the UK? A quick google only finds one 6Gb card, and it's in the states...

6GB 280X? Didn't know they existed, don't think they do

Not worth it imo, don't have the grunt in order to be able to use the full 6GB VRAM in any case

I think I might save a bit of cash and get this one. Comes with 3 free games and a mouse (which I am in need of anyway). It won't have freesync when that comes out - 280 and 280X apparently won't support it. Will I be missing out massively?

Opinions on this would be good. I think there's a waterblock available as well.

Your basket
Asus Radeon R9 280X DirectCUII TOP 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Total (including shipping) : £249.59

(PS. not sure if I did the basket thing properly... how do you do it so that it's nicely coloured and with links?)
Didn't do it properly - here's the link

What is your current system spec and the budget for a graphics card ?

Not sure whether a R9 290 would be okay for your new case as they do run quite hot without adequate case cooling. Others might be able to add/offer an opinion but if you bought a R9 290 reference cooled even though it is the blower type they do run quite hot. Then if you bought a R9 290 with custom cooling would it run any cooler in such a small case ?

A 770 would run cooler than a R9 290. I've had both and the 770 was cooler.

So dont forget to take into account things like which will run cooler and quieter.

With regards to your physx question its a bit of swings and roundabouts. Not that many games make use of it but its nice to have. Have you considered a GTX 780 ?

Even without adequate case cooling, something like a PCS+ qould run much cooler than a reference.

If you want cool and quiet, go with a pcS 290 or a Tri-X 290. Don't be suckered into paying for a 770 which costs a similar amount.
