Dash cam recomendations please

Yeah I've read that too, and 1080p will allow you to save more on the memory card

I might check out that polarizer, someone else has given me some suggestions too...

- Put the camera as close to the screen as possible
- Angle it down (like you said)
- Cover the dash in a dash-mat (which I'm not interested in)

Let me know what you find out about the polarizer! Keen to get one but cant be bothered making one

I had a response from someone saying it isn't worth it if you're just using it for an accident cam

Seems like a lot of hassle to be honest, finding a 3d printer to use to make the mount for it, then tweaking it to get it working perfectly

Don't think I'll bother to be honest

One cheap thing someone tried was just using an old pair of 3D cinema glasses! :D

I've got a polerising filter from my old Ms4 video camera.. Might try bodging it on just to see the results !!

I recently bought a Transcend DrivePro 200 off the rainforest site. Not very discreet really though sits nicely in front of rear view mirror. Thought it was OK to start with when set to record in one minute files. Other options are 3 or 5 minutes. Set it to 3 minute files and after about a minute and a half the recording stutters and grinds to a halt. Not very good if something was to happen in the second half of the file. I presume this means it's faulty and send it back?

I'd try a different memory card first if you have one, a faster one as maybe it is struggling currently

It has the 16gb card that came with the cam so would expect it to work with it? As it's within 30 days I'll probably return it

Vid quality is very good day and night. Downside of the Transcend is it is fairly large and incase your passenger hasn't noticed it, it turns the screen on for a minute and beeps three times every time it's turned on or off. Once initial set up had been done then I'd prefer the screen remained off and like the option to silence the beeps.

****sticks...

My Eprance 0803 has packed up. :(
Yesterday it kept stopping the record fuction by itself, today it's got a permanent red LED and a blank screen.
Arsebiscuits!

Has it got a reset button? My first ever camera a DOD did the same. I ordered a new camera and after fitting it I discovered a small reset hole, pressed it and the thing came back to life as it should.

To hard reset it you hold the power button down, all this does it turn the red LED off.
As soon as you apply the power it's blank screen and red LED again. :(

Emailed -E-prance via the order on Amazon, lets see how their customer service is....

Might bring it in from the car and reflash the BIOS or something, see if that works.

It's probably given up because of all the vibration from those stupid mud bogger tyres I put on at Christmas.

To be honest it's probably a battery failure. My 801 and then the 803 I replaced it with both did this after a few months.

Have now bought a Blackvue which has a capacitor instead of a battery, which are far more tolerable of the usage in a car. It was quite expensive, although as it's 12V in was very easy and neat to hard-wire into the car.
