I am totally fed up with the extreme over use of the following:

"poo through letterbox"
"Nuke from orbit"
"kill with fire"
"smash pasty"

etc. etc.

Any regular GD forum dweller will know that this list is almost endless.

In my opinion its childish and brings nothing worthwhile to the original topic of discussion.

Is this something that has been considered to be moderated before? Is this something that is over looked? Am I over reacting?

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't *ruin* my enjoyment of most sections of the forum but I do feel that its bringing down the (arguable) quality of OCUK GD.

And whilst I am probably guilty of using a phrase once or twice in the past
it seems that more and more people use these terrible jokes completely out of context and they are overused and not funny anymore.


I cant be the only one who feels like this?

I know a solution is simple. I could just avoid GD all together. But, in all honesty, I think with a little tighter moderations or some simple rule changes, GD could change for the better.

*awaits all of the obvious responses*
 
Your in the wrong place if you want to bring anything worthwhile to a conversation. Gd is a venting place for the mildly autistic, melodramatic, narcissistic or plain racist. ;)
 
Most people that use them wrong are newer members that don't know the origins of most of these sayings, but they pick up on them and try to use them to 'fit' in.

I am a great believer in seeing things out to the end. Not just making assumptions based on the start of something.

Its kind of a good point though. This picture was banned, surely some of the childish over used comments could be too?

Does seem pretty strange how I've seen mods delete posts for not being "family friendly" yet talk of pooping through letterboxes and smashing pasty is fine. Haven't been posting long enough to know the ins and outs, it doesn't bother me that much I tend to just not read those posts.
