I believe the whole "claimed" thing was banned for exactly the reasons the OP is citing, so there is a precedent for banning stupid and unfunny jokes that have gone on too long.
 
Did you guys not see the "All of the above (except for the leave him alone bit)" option? That means all that stuff will happen to him.

Reporters recently made contact with forum regular Atlas for a statement after the revelation of his recent banning.

"Atlas, I understand you were recently perma'd from the forums. Do you have anything to say to that?"

Atlas shrugged.
