To be fair, the constant stream of "poo through his / her letterbox", "adopt your boxing stance" etc are incredibly childish. No matter what you brand GD as, are these constant comments of any use at all other than just being a complete waste of space? They contribute nothing to any of the posts, and they are quite honestly some of the most ridiculous suggestions you'd ever dream of. I am all for the odd joke here and there, and silly responses to some topics, but coming into each thread thinking you'll actually find some decent information only to find the same comments over and over again, posted mostly by the same people, is really old and tiring. It became a rule breaker to post a certain bear pic, and as has been demonstrated, the same with the Jesus pic, but these same comments have been going on for ages now and they're still around. When are they ever going to become unacceptable?

I'm of the same opinion.

That's why I rarely bother with GD these days and stick to the sub forums, shame as it can be a laugh at times but these days it tends to be a circle jerk and a quest to fit in.

The last time the forum adopted the kind of Nazi moderation the OP is crying for it destroyed it.

How is increasing the quality of GD forum discussion by bringing in a few rules that outlaw these constant stupid comments that are posted in every single thread, Nazi moderation? Do you not find it tedious sifting through the constant barrage of childish comments just to be able to find a post that might have some information relevant to the original post and discussion?

As many here say, if you're not interested in contributing to the original topic, don't post anything at all. The constant stream of silly comments brings absolutely nothing to the discussions. In fact they actually ruin them in most instances. I've been a member here for a while now and I'm just getting tired of the over-use of these comments. It might have been funny at one time, but it is so, so old now.

Did anyone call OP faget yet?

I thought personal insults were against forum rules.

No swearing, posting of "adult" material, personal attacks or "trolling"

We also expect members to behave respectfully and not launch personal or abusive attacks on other members. Those who post for the sole purpose of causing trouble are not welcome here and will be dealt with accordingly.

Yeah, it says that in the rules but I still see it happening. It was also yet another tired meme that seemed to feature within GD for a good while, and still going. I believe that the main person responsible for it has been banned, but I don't think it was for that tired meme, unfortunately.

There's a time and a place.
These phrases always raise a chuckle in the right places (I've used most of them!), but I agree that they do pop up a little too frequently now.

Serious thread: no pasty/poop etc- stay on topic!
Silly thread: poop/letterbox/queen wasp/boxing stance- light-hearted banter!
Best avoided at all times: tl:dr, jesus.jpg (suspension offences now!)

I can thoroughly see OPs point, although I find this stuff quite amusing, it does need to be applied sensibly...

I always chuckle at the inconsistency with which the offensive language rules are applied. Say a mild, near-innpocuous swearie and it gets immediately deleted... but make vulgar sexual comments (pasty smashing etc etc) and yeah ok, that's fine. :D

Pasty smashing is vulgar? Man you were sheltered, son

The other day I got a straight suspension for posting a youtube video that had 1 swear word in it that I hadn't noticed.

It's a joke really.

These forums have way too many OTT rules as it is, why are people asking for even more?

OP complains about in-house memes > people take the mick > name change poll made > third party gets banned > sensible discussion.

This seems like a first for GD...

I think it works best to think of GD as a giant ballpool. It looks like fun from the outside and keeps all the kids happily entertained and contained, but if you look too closely you'll see it's all sticky and gross and there's a dead badger in the bottom.

Almost 6 pages of people having a laugh on GD, followed by 5 or 6 posts claiming that 'enough is enough now'.

What's the betting that people start chucking the banhammer around because of the 5 or 6 posts, rather than the majority?
