Dell U2713H or U2713HM?

So, I bought the Dell U2412M from OCuk 3 weeks ago, great monitor, really like it - sadly it's got a dead pixel on it, so needs to get replaced by Dell under their warranty (as it's within 30 days, they swap for a new one)....

however I've just received an email from them telling me that as the U2412M is now end of life, they are not able to send me a new one, so could I confirm that I can accept a U2713H instead! It's a short email, but doesn't indicate that I'd have to pay any difference, so sounds like a straight swap :) Not a bad deal I think.

The U2713H is not the monitor I'd really want (from what I've heard it's colours are not very good for gaming, video and most non-print professional work due to it's Wide Gamut), however the cheaper U2713HM would be more suitable for me I think.

Do you think I'd be better asking for the U2713HM instead?
Or should I just take the U2713H and try it for myself (then sell it and buy the U2713HM if I don't like it)?

I'm not even sure I have space for a 27", but given the situation I might as well try it and see! If I take either, could sell either of them and get a new U2412M from OCuk anyway

Hi

I recently researched the Dells.
General consensus is the HM are the better all around monitors. (Gaming, media etc)

You could try the 'H' it's colours are very saturated looking (which you may like) also the 'H' is the more expensive of the two monitors.

If you sure you could sell it on, I personally would grab the 'H' and take it from there.

Dell called this morning wanting an answer! So I've gone for the H so I'll see how it is.

Some reviews are saying that games and movies look great, while others are saying the colours are out - guess I'll see for myself :)

Either way, can't complain at getting a £550 monitor to replace a £200 one :D

Like I said , you may like the saturated colours, a lot of people do. Way I see it it's win win. ;)

New monitor arrived, however Dell sent me the U2713HM rather than the H.
Kinda feel like I'm not really in a position to complain about it though ;)

Very nice monitor though :)
