I already have a 750Ti and want to use it within a budget gaming build for a mate. Could someone help spec me the system? Just the box, no peripherals required. I'm thinking along the lines of just the basics to get him started, but leave him the opportunity to upgrade when he gets the bug (and he will, he just doesn't know it yet!)

Probably no need for SSD, I know they're getting cheaper but his games and media will require an HDD. He can add SSD in the future if he likes.

Thanks in advance. Oh, and it's a budget system so not really much point in stating £££'s. Cheap and cheerful!

p.s. Windows 8.1 for the OS...

I think an i3 would be applicable in this case due to the hyperthreading

With a smaller HDD and 256GB SSD still (you should be able to fit one in :) )

1TB should still be very decent

At the very least I suggest a Z97 board to allow for faster RAM (>1600Mhz) and future upgradeability and ability to overclock should you put in a new i5/i7k CPU

Don't forget you get free shipping!

Possible to get an i5 "K" if you skip the SSD and cut back on the PSU a bit, should still be absolutely fine as a GTX750ti is not that power hungry.

Antec case is better value for money than the Neos as it includes two fans as standard.

Just a word of warning - should you go with a SuperFlower Golden Greece PSU, perhaps look at getting a case with a decent amount of space behind the motherboard tray as I tried routing the SATA cables through a Neos case, and they are really thick and didn't fit properly so I couldn't shut the side panel :(
Using a beQuiet! unit was better for me as the cables are considerably easier to route

As our forum fellows have suggested, I strongly suggest the same in regards of SSD: you need one, and with prices dropping quite low nowadays it's got the most considerable boost of all. and an aftermarket cooler is also suggested should you want more decent temps and especially silence.

You've got me thinking now... I already have an i3 but it's not a Haswell/DC it's Ivy Bridge (Intel Core i3 3240). Would I be OK using (I know I need to consider the RAM speed and I don't think he'll be overclocking), and if so what MOBO would you suggest?

Nice tip, that's why I'm asking these questions. Thanks!

Swaying towards an SSD now. Thanks.

What motherboard do you have with that i3? If it's Z77/Z68, keep it an slot in a used 3570k or similar, if it's H77 or something sell it as stulid said
