In the middle of completing a deal for a second wf gtx 780 this evening. My current psu is a rather old first gen corsair hx 850, (seasonic unit). Would this be ok with two of theese cards in sli. My current card is a rev 1 wf which uses 1x 6 pin and 1x 8 pin pcie, rev 2 uses 2x 8 pin connectors. Rest of spec is.

i7 4790k currently at stock, (hoping for 4.7 for 24/7 use)
8gb 2400mhz 1.65v ram
Asus Maximus VI formula

run a similar spec including oc'ed 780 sli (2 x windforce v2's) on a corsair tx 850 v2, no probs

Nice un bee, mind if i ask what the rest of your spec is and what sort of power draw your seeing. My psu is at least 6 years old and has powered several heavily oc'd cpu's with various sli'd cards in that time.

[email protected], 8gb, 7 hdd's, 7 x 120mm case fans

been a while since i had a power meter on it but i seem to remember around 550w max in an intensive game with no frame cap, most games were way lower though. i usually limit fps (or vsync) with after burner etc, lowers the power consumption a lot obviously

Only oc'ing will be on the CPU. Tbh I only oc the current card for benches, not a great clocked anyway.

Yeah gigabyte cards aren't the best clockers in general. I'd buy a kilowatt meter theyre dirt cheap on ebay...

Mind if I ask setter if you have those bf4 spikes on cte bf4?

What is your reasoning on getting another 780 sli?

I am not mr nosey, Just thinking about doing the same thing :)

I would have no qualms about adding another 780 to my loop on an RM850 and doubt you would either.

Knowing setter his reasoning is probably "why not?"

Nope, bf4 CTE runs far better than vanilla. Comparable to vanilla bf4 on mantle. As for going sli, as mentioned by Disco P, my reckoning is why not. Sure my monitor is only 1920x1200 and quite old. But a monitor upgrade will be my next choice. Gsync is interesting, but needs good gpu horsepower, not interested in 4k with current cards. Some ultrawide monitors have got me a little interested. Ive ran an awful lot of sli setups over the past few years, i like how it just works so simply in 99% of cases.
