I think this is what Traffic_Warden was hinting at.

Yeah I know what he was getting at, I thought my picture explained it. Obviously not :p.

In order for the lights to be equidistant from the walls on both sides of the area beside the table, that alignment of the lights was inevitable. Carrying the main kitchen area alignment through to the dining area would have mean that the right hand set of lights were closer to the utility room wall than the left, which would also have looked weird.

Similarly, continuing the alignment from the dining area to the main part of the kitchen would have meant that the lights were not spread equally in that area.

Oh yeah, these also arrived, the world's thinnest/lowest profile SATA3 cables:

I hope you watermarked that lovely watermark in case someone decided to steal it.

Look closer :o

So for the last two months I have been educating myself on the world of vinyl. At first, I was completely unaware of everything, other than the fact my significant other wanted a turntable. Her birthday was coming up (yesterday) and I wanted to get her a deck etc so she could listen to and collect vinyl.

Being the complete noob I am, I went about trying to understand the deep and complex world of vinyl and turntables, and audio equipment in general. I'm not thick (I'd like to think), but you have to understand that two months ago I wasn't really aware of even how to wire speaker cable into speakers, let alone how an amp system, turntable and speakers 'spoke' to each other.

After some searching I quickly found out that buying one of those all in one turntables was a big no-no in the world of vinyl (one of which my girlfriend had spotted previously and expressed interest). So I came to the conclusion I was going to do it correctly, and buy some decent speakers, decent amp and a nice new Pioneer turntable.

I was almost ready to hit the go button on Amazon and have my Prime membership have all my goodies land on my doorstep the next morning. Luckily, I got chatting to a guy at work who is somewhat of a connoisseur with regards to vinyl. He quickly educated me to buy a decent used deck from the 70's/80's and work from there with different bits and pieces. He sorta got me on my way with where to go for things, how to wire everything up and what to buy etc.

Needless to say, looking back I feel like an idiot for not understanding more. Thankfully, I managed to buy everything from all over the country and everything works perfectly, and I managed to buy everything within my budget of £400.00 (this was my initial budget for a new setup, I actually only spent £200.00 in total, for the below);

I picked up the amp first, for £48 including delivery. It's a SONY amp, and I think it's from the late 90's.

Next up was the daddy itself. I had looked around a lot and I couldn't stop coming back to the 1973-1975 PL-12D Mk1. I love it, unconditionally. It looks, for lack of a better word, vintage. In the truest sense of the word. As soon as I saw it I knew my partner would adore it. Luckily this was close to home, and I offered the seller on eBay £100.00. She refused, and I ended up winning it a week later for £75.00. Result...;

Last up is the speakers which I won for £42 incl delivery. These came fast and are really, really awesome. So much weight and quality. I've not looked into them too much, but I assume that they are from the 80's/90's, maybe later?

All pictures are courtesy of the eBay sellers. I have managed to get my setup complete, me and my girlfriend worked on setting it up last night on her birthday, it took us about two hours to get it 'right', but there's still loads to do. It's an endless road, this vinyl malarkey.

I didn't really give a toss about vinyl before but now I'm a bloody addict.

It's a manual tone arm and putting that arm on the first vinyl and hearing that sweet, rich sound coming from the speakers is somewhat enlightening.

Set up last night;

Hi Foster what do you think to the joy stick as I was looking at grabbing that one yesterday but the throttle didn't look like it's in the right position.

Hi Swillsy, firstly I have never used a Joystick before and lol for the first hour I was gonna sling it out of the window mostly as I was very tired after not much sleep last night...so after I sussed out the key binding part in BF4 ( still not done all of them yet though ) I have been able to fly a heli and pitch and roll and also fire me cannons , As goes the throttle I'm still using the WSAD on my Keyboard , it is a bit stiff though when pitching and rolling although the roll does feel more extreme while in a Jet , But I'm assuming that might loosen up after a while ..but it does feel like a Joystick of good quality ...but as I said it's my first ever stick
