4x4GB RAM on ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Ranger might need more IMC Voltage

Hi everyone,

As the title says, but am unsure of how to do it with this motherboard (more used to MSI's).

System is crashing on some games, on idle, using Chrome. I've had a similar thing happen in another system and it turned out the RAM was dodgy.

Done checks on drives etc, and can't find any issues. I know that it can be the case that using all four memory slots requires more memory controller voltage (and perhaps a couple of other setting increases too?), so at the moment I believe this could be the cause of the crashing (that it's all at stock right now).

I need advice on which settings to play with, and by how much, please. :)

BIOS is updated to latest version. RAM is 4 x 4GB Avexir Core Red 2133MHz. CPU is i7-4790K.

Try bumping the SA, IOA and IOD voltages to 1.15, as your running 4x 4gb theese voltages often need an increase.

what volts is your ram at? im using almost the same board and mine runs stable at 1.6v.

Thanks for that. They are 1.5v RAM and that's how it shows in the BIOS too. So I'd imagine upping the DRAM voltage on these to 1.52v max, perhaps?

Cheers Setter, will see if I can find those, or however they are called in that motherboard.

Your boards bios is similair to mine, below is a pic of mine.

In my shot above theyre the three voltages in yellow at 1.200. 1.15 should be grand though, i only had them at this as i was oc'ing the ram and cpu.

Sorry, forgot to mention - friend's board, built it for him.

Gotcha. And beautiful, really appreciate your help. ;)

He's been trying with just 8GB (2 x 4GB) for hours now and so far so good, so it could well be the voltages. Will post feedback once the issue is solved in case it may benefit others.
