Just suppose someone knew when you'll die, they then offer you £100,000 if you willing to die 6 months early.
Would you take the money ? (They're not going to tell you the dates )

Yes I would hoping im going to be 80 odd when I bite the dust and that £100k now would allow me to live much more comfortably for the next 50+ years

I've always been stuck in ~£13k jobs, so that offering is like best part of 10 years worth of take-home wages. I would definitely take that if it meant knocking half a year off my life. For starters, it would pay off the rest of my mortgage which otherwise still has 17 years left to go. Then I would save £3k in an ISA and write a will to my family with the rest of the money + my house.

Unless I'm due to die in less than 12 month's time, no thanks.

Question sounds like a plot line for a straight to DVD movie.

It would depend, how many hours at work (assuming you don't like your time at work) you sacrificed in order to get six months. As time is really money in some respects it's simply a calculation based on a series of conditions.

Salary, age, work enjoyment & impact on future work/time commitments. For some people they could gain more than six months back of enjoyable time as a result of it.

Personally I wouldn't, but that's because I don't mind my job.

I'd probably take it. £100k could change your life financially. Smash it down as a huge house deposit and start living life on god mode!

For the truly great things in life, I don't think any of them are going to come about in a short 6 month period, especially the last 6 of your life.

There's a couple of ways to look at this.

If I'm going to be old and decrepit, crapping my pants and having altzheimers etc, then sure I'd take the £100K.

Alternatively, if I'm still relatively young and have a lot of years ahead of me, then no I'd not take the £100K.

The big question is, will I think I'll reach old age? :D
