Nvidia Disables PhysX Support on Vendor Mixed GPU Setups – Driver Update 340.52 Onwards

BS, gpu PhysX is disabled on Nvidia with AMD discrete sitting idle in the same system.

Huh? Read it again

TBH, they never beat around the bush from day one.

"For a variety of reasons – some development expense some quality assurance and some business reasons NVIDIA will not support GPU accelerated Physx with NVIDIA GPUs while GPU rendering is happening on non- NVIDIA GPUs," it read. "I’m sorry for any inconvenience caused but I hope you can understand."

Sadly, these days all we read is irrational allegiance and hate for not being able to use another vendors technology. This industry has always been industry driven and that won't change. So I'll refer to my previous bubble comments!

It's clear enough:

Anyone running Nvidia driver version 186 will find PhysX acceleration disabled when ATI hardware is also present in the system, SlashGear reported.

Nvidia customer service responded to a user regarding the issue, saying, "Nvidia supports GPU accelerated Physx on NVIDIA GPUs while using NVIDIA GPUs for graphics. NVIDIA performs extensive Engineering, Development, and QA work that makes Physx a great experience for customers."

The email continued to list a couple of reasons why the Nvidia GPU would refuse to accelerate PhysX, with one of them being, of course, for business.

Clearly stated it works rendering through Nvidia and ignored/never acknowledged the part that it's disabled with AMD in the system when all rendering/PhysX is done solely through Nvidia with AMD discrete sitting idle=BS/Liar.

Yet I'm the one in a bubble, practice what you preach I think.

Has anybody considered that this new change people originally grabbed the pitchforks over may actually be to stop the PhysX lockout affecting APU systems, as opposed to extending it's reach?

I responded when i noticed the comment, but apparently the right to respond to BS has an expiration date. Did i make it this time?

It's not BS though is it. Feel free to contribute but I have a feeling given your utterly lame insult attempts that you don't have anything else to add.

I will apologise for being right, though.

Back in your box and topic restored.

I think you should stop trying so hard it's not doing you any favours. I'll spell it in capitals for you and pretend to be enraged. Might fuel your rage enough that you come up with something conclusive. This may come as a huge shock though, so I'd bite your lip and hold on to the arms on that chair of yours.

I THINK THAT PART IS PRETTY MUCH A GIVEN, CONSIDERING THE STATEMENT MADE.

I do love a good episode of Captain Obvious

You respond to this thread by slamming AMD for something the thread is not even about. If your so hellbent on some stupid SSD release why dont you go to the storage section and post a topic there instead and let this thread stay on its original rails and please keep the smartass remarks to yourself, you are embarrassing yourself.

Superb move by Nvidia, it's an Nvidia product and should only be used with their cards on their own.

Time and time again I hear the AMD users say PhysX is crap or only used in a few games, so this should not matter to them one jot.

So you think it's a great move from nvidia to cut out a feature that there customers paid for. I get the feeling if Nvidia asked you to jump off mount Everest you would. If somebody buys nvidia they should be able to use all the features end of story.

Good comedy though.

I almost agree with you. The thing i would have add't would be this:

* If somebody buys nvidia they should be able to use all the features unless stated otherwise on the retail box.

Way to tell me. "Don't do what I do".

Rest my case

It's as though you can't hear yourselves. You're complaining about a company cutting features when a foreign GPU is detected.

A true basket case of economics. Genuinely, no disrespect. It's as though you honestly don't understand such a simple concept.

Hold on so if I went and bought a NVIDIA GPU to use along side my AMD GPU, I shouldn't be allowed to use PhysX??

This is completely wrong from Nvidia... If I buy something I expect to be able to use the features it say on the box, not when they tell me I can.
Nvidia are bit like Apple they lock down everything and pull the strings on there user base. AMD are more like Android more open about things.

Your just a puppet.

Name open AMD technologies besides the one exception currently which is TressFX.

NV invest a huge some of money into this area, and have done for years.

AMD don't. (With the exception of Mantle).

It's really that simple!

You get what you put in, is a great phrase and totally applicable here.

When I say open I mean they dont go looking for ways to lock down features, if you happen to use a Nvidia GPU.

Will AMD stop me using anything if Nvidia was also in my system?

Thats what I mean by more open about things.
