Hi all,

I'm at my grandparent's house and I have just logged into an ancient machine riddled with viruses and basically incapable of doing anything. Should be a browsing machine but appears to not be capable of this.

Please can you spec me a budget build including all inner components plus a case, keyboard, mouse and w7.

I could reuse the mouse and keyboard using the old school ps/2 (?) connectors or buy new.

Thanks

Much appreciated.

You're probably better off picking up a cheap pre-built PC of some kind. They start of at £150, it's hard to beat that on price building it yourself.

I can only assume it's to be used for light internet browsing etc?

Yeah I'm looking through them now. I'm not used to this end of the market really so just wanted to garner opinions plus I would rather build it to know everything about it for future reference.

In addition time is a factor for me. I need it built before the end of this week as I leave here.

Take note people Ethermaster actually spec'ed something cheap for a change!!! I think this thread should be pinned as a reminder that I can do ....... sometimes. :D

I picked up a 'cheap black box from the zoo' for £150 for the rents last year. At the time I couldn't have built it for the same money plus it was less hassle ;)

Does iPlayer for them and the internet, thats all they need :)

I was going to but building it myself is preferable if I'm honest (I also need something to do). Plus I can then sort everything out properly directly as opposed to dealing with "monkeys" :)

I don't mind spending a more for the quality.

"monkeys" like it :D

In fairness that's what I thought but I was impressed with the internals considering the cost of the box... the only thing I was amazed by was kit of such a small size being put in an old midi tower
