So I have a 7950 iceq boost arriving tomorrow and I have the multi gpu bug back again as keep seeing other people currently selling the same card on mm

At 1080p are 2 going to really stretch there legs or is it overkill?

Answers on a postcard.....

Thanks

Ben

One should be enough for 1080 but...

Go to 1440 then 2 x 7950's work very nicely :)

Although given the heat and noise you might have to watercool :D - Am running this config. myself - very pleased, much quieter and looks a hell of a lot prettier through the window than air cooled.:o

I've got two 7950 iceq boost running in xfire at 1080p. Because they exhaust heat they are the ideal cards to use for xfire. Performance wise they are very good, I've not struggled playing any games at maximum settings. The only game I really play is BF4 and it's super smooth, played Crysis 3 for a bit and that also ran flawlessly.

I would definitely be going for another iceq if I was to do it, so that's another tick in the box.

My old TF3 6950's used to heat EVERYTHING up with the dual fan system, so will make a nice change :)

7950@1080p is NOT going to run you a full 60 fps maxed out in top games. Whether a second one will be overkill... I don't know.

It's only a few games that it won't though, and in those all you need do is drop one setting from ultra to high, or drop a level of AA, to get solid 60fps. Anything else will be straight-up ultra.

Thanks for the post mrham

That is good to know. Tbh I I have been used to just about squeezing the same performance from 2x6950s when the game actually supports it...

With that in mind I think I should be happy how quick a single card is going to be :)

If you can get a second card at the right price i say go for it. Running sli 780's at 1920x1200 here, no such thing as overkill. All about performance for me.:D

well......first card in my machine less than 24 hours,

Reserved another 1 :D

SUCH a great card, 2 in crossfire are going to be spectacular!
