** Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Chroma **

Looks good. Guess these will be some of the questions to come up:

- What type of key options will be available?
- How many light layouts can you set?
- How do you switch between them? i.e. is there a hardware button on the keyboard?
- How does it compare to the new Corsair offerings (when they arrive)?
- What will the RRP be (thinking Razer tax)

Although that tiny logo looks like it came out from Star Trek, it actually belongs to Kaihua Electronics (also known as Kailh), a Chinese manufacturer specializing in switches, so it goes without saying that they are the OEM behind Razer's Green and Orange keyboard switches. They are far from a new company; Kailh has been making switches for over two decades, including keyboard switches. However, if someone compares their products to those from Cherry, it becomes apparent that their keyboard-related products are a direct copy of Cherry's designs. This is not illegal, however, as Cherry's patent on mechanical keyboard switches dates back in the early 1980's and thus expired well over a decade ago.

From the vid it says it usage a Green switch, no idea on the force or click.

I know razer put a fair markup on things, so i can't imagine this coming down to "reasonable" price point for a little while.

Does looks nice though, i have a blackwidow myself and im a big fan of the drivers and software they provide.

I guess with the SDK its only a matter of time before thats possible, not sure there is enough keys to give it any great "definition" though!

I think Razer use their own 'custom' keys bud, not the standard Cherry MX ones.

Yeah, as Benihana says though they are pretty much the same as cherry models so we could have some indication of which will be available. I'm guessing there will be at least two?

This has got my interest - just hope you can turn it into a live graphic EQ for music playback too :)

Hah yes, for ultimate bling factor.

I think it would be useful if I could switch between a BF4 preset and a general all-red backlit preset using a button on the keyboard itself (or rather, cycle through all presets for example) rather than have to use any software interface. Again I'm making an assumption but I'd expect that.

You worry too much :) It's lights! woo!

Well if there's an SDK then I could probably knock up something to do what I need fairly quickly :)

Corsair are taking the required time to iron out issues etc. A christmas launch will server them well anyway Regardless of razer's kailh switches coming out first.

Good to hear that they want to get it right, better to wait than to rush it and get it wrong.

Thought with the name it might have a chrome finish or something like that...but all it means the keys light up any colour. This isn't a new feature and plenty of keyboards have this.

Still repping a cheap gigabyte dome keyboard here though, want the k70 rgb so bad but december is a long way off.

I got a near 20 year old Saitek eclipse (yes #1 not #2) that won't bloody die... Decided k70 rgb will finally be the end of it...

At least December gives Santa time to save up for it...
