Thanks for that very useful. I was looking for a bit of advice. In my experience these are a bit hard to find without a bit if a travel. I don't want to travel the distance required without knowing what to look out for.

Thanks I seriously would value advice. Whilst I rarely post here due mainly to the comments above look back at my previous posts. I am not someone full of bull and there are more of you out there that have more knowledge than me and I do value proper advice.

Surely these posts are "trolling" and consitutes a three day ban, DirtyJester!?

Though not.

It's helpful, constructive advice. I'd hate to see the OP get stung and buy a 350z with no wheels when it could've been averted with some simple advice.

Once again thank you but how would you imagine I would be able to test drive one of these without wheels? Or are you the kind of person that buys as seen?

Perhaps the responses are reflective of your post, OP?

What exactly is your criteria for the car? Your budget? Transmission preference, etc etc?

A little more to go on, showing that you've attempted an ounce of personal research, would garner you more advice here. There are a few 350z owners, and I believe (not 100%) that there's a specific thread dedicated to it?

Anyone with some serious advice?

If your original post was a little more detailed, you'd probably have got some nicer answers.

What kind of budget are you looking at? Suggest looking over 350z-uk forum, will have plenty of useful things to look over.

Ok but didn't want to be too specific. Looking at a 2006 model due to the road tax issue budget is around £9k

Sorry thanks for some useful advice.

Looking at a 350z convertible. Help please with what to look out for.

you are getting silly responses because the op is terrible

give them some background. your budget. do you want a phase 1,2 or 3 car?

is colour important to you. can you afford a top of the range model, have you considered alternatives, what is your current car, have you ever had a rwd car before.

then of course there is the large 350z thread on here with a wealth of info and plenty of owners to consult

you dont really want a z convertible. they look like a fat ford sport ka

Shop around. Most (if not all?) automatics will be a 'Fairlady Z', which are Japanese imports and a lot of independent garages seem to try to pass them off as a 350Z. These will generally be cheaper but you're better off looking for a UK GT manual spec. The automatics are 5 speed, manuals will be 6 speed.

The engine revision differs through three models, based on the year:

3.5L VQ35DE V6 (2003 & 2004)
3.5L VQ35DE RevUp V6 (2005 & 2006)
3.5L VQ35HR V6 (2007 to 2009)

I used to own the 2003 model, so I couldn't tell you how much better the later revisions are. Handling is pretty good and the drive can be a bit predictable but felt pretty stable throughout my ownership (1 year) I never tried drifting with it mind. It's 0-60, IIRC, is around 5.5-6 seconds.

My only real grievance was the limited rear view when parking, and quality of the plastic interior as it picked up a rattle in the center console which was a pain to find and stop.

But yeah, find a GT spec and give it a test drive. There's a thread devoted to 350Zs floating around somewhere here. :)

Have had a look at a few fairlady z but it is hard to determine exact mileage. Currently looking at an 06 convertible with 61k
I am also looking at a regular 06 plate but for some reason the convertible appeals to me.
In answer to others my significant car history is Alfa Gtv, Peugeot 406 v6, Mazda rx8 to name a few. Currently have a SAAB 93 turbo chipped to 240.
