Npower - WTF? Stupid increase

Exactly the same, I just had £91 credit go back into my bank, yet they still think I'm going to use another £56 a month from now through the winter. I like to stay warm, but not that bloody warm, and the fact they said most of it is for electricity.

You expect them to employee hundreds of employee's just to call back customers?
You do realise there are millions of people with DD's right?
It would be nice sure, but its not feasible.

I can't imagine there being that many customers whose DD increase substantially like that - and if there are, it highlights a bigger flaw in the system.

Credit is not refunded, until the customers asks for it.

Is that a 100% fact, you work for a supplier?

Cos i find that part the most disgusting.:p

Just saw your edit...

I think they should return the balance automatically: Not have to ask for it.

Yes I've worked for Npower for just over a year now.
And its not disgusting, it keeps credit so you don't end up in debt and get collections letters threatening entry to your property etc.
It's not hard to call and go "I would like a refund please".

People's DD re-assess them selves every 6 months, and sometimes inbetween as-well (system issue).
Most calls I get per day are due to the DD changing.

Dear mr I Work for nPower....

I gave you meter readings every month.
I gave you multi meter readings on the phone when calling in.

Your colleagues were utterly useless and you still ****** us over with a mental price hike out of thin air. Don't tar all us customers with the same brush. I documented this all, called up knowing exactly where I stood with all the information I could obtain and was fobbed off.

And now your stupid company is still sending me letters about nto being able to calculate my final bill almost a year after I left you as a problem with your "system" exists.

So nah, your broad statements don't wash with me. Your employer is a ****.

With all your woes, it makes me thankful that EDF just reduced my bill from £70 to £43 after seeing how much we used over the winter. Good times! :D

Are you on economy 10 by any chance (4 meter readings)
If so, sorry but the system doesn't support that anymore, we have to outsource it to a different company thats why it takes so long.

If not, call up again, ask to speak to a manager or the executive complaints team.

You help customers by hanging up on them? I'll make sure I never speak to you then.

I hang up if they get abusive towards me. They get one warning, then hanged up on.
Which all advisers have to do.
We are not there to take crap from anyone, be polite.

I'm with SSE Atlantic for both gas and elec and although my DD goes up and down from time to time (my monthly payments are just under £70 for both together (I live alone)) I never have any real issues with them at all. Any time my account used to be in credit, they would hang on to it and take it off the next bill (this bothered me a little bearing in mind my money was in their account) but recently they've started paying it straight back into my account without any prompting by me, a few days after the bill.

I now do regular meter readings but all in all I'm happy with them to be honest.

It will do it automatically based on estimated usage, doesn't matter if you don't get a bill, it will do it anyway.

This was exactly my problem though man. We gave you meter readings every month without fail and your estimation was still completely out of thin air and took no consideration of the meter readings we spent time to give to nPower. Leaving us in limbo and not bothering to bill for 9 months is just downright ridiculous regardless of anything.

How great of nPower to move the DD up and down to ensure we never go in debt, that's glorious. If only they would send you a bloody bill that's like the basics of this entire industry as far as a consuemer is concerned. Total joke.

We cancelled nPower as soon as we could and are now with Scottish Power who are like the power company sent directly from heaven compared to nPower.

Well, turns out I have over £230 in Gas and £80 in Electric as credit.

Logged into SSE page, setup an online chat, 5 mins in and I am getting 66% of it out and keeping the rest as overwinter. Wasn't as bad an experience as my British Gas and nPower experience.

Not all of them are evil.

Actually. I'm with NPower and just got credited without having to ask. No idea why, it was only £55 refund and they put the DD up - why not just make the DD £5 a month less?

I work for Npower (because there's no where else).
I don't know about other advisers, seems every time someone calls some adviser has screwed with someones account, I've gotten like 30 people sacked so far for not doing the job properly.
You need to stop complaining about your DD going up, its in your DD agreement that it will get re-assessed, based on usage/debt/credit.
Sometimes it goes **** up and does it completely wrong for whatever reason, because the system we use is so bad, its not even designed for the job.
Get this every day from people by the way...."why has my DD gone up! EXPLAIN YOURSELF!", "I AM A PENSIONER YOUR GOING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!" Oh please....
If you don't want your DD going up, ring with meter readings every month and get it re-assessed there and then.
If it goes up....call, give readings and re-assess, its not hard. Its your responsibility to give readings.
If it goes down....call give readings and re-assess
If a payment isn't taken, either you dont have enough money in your bank, we have the wrong details or an adviser cocked up the DD process and didnt do it correctly (this happens allot, I don't know why people here as so stupid)

But anyway, all the problems are easily sorted.

Not sure that's the case, I submitted readings and they wanted to nearly double my payments as I was in credit, and by a decent amount I hasten to add. I phoned and requested asking for my amount to be out back down, yet all ignored. Fake promises of getting some of my money back and the DD amended. The only department that sorted it was complaints, who said themselves the people I dealt with didn't even iniate any sort of amendment or refund. If I am being cynical, I'd say npower have a directive to hold as much capital as possible.

I'm moving to First Utility soon, I like the idea that my readings will actually be used and not over ridden. It's a shame as when I moved over to npower, they were actually good value, in recent years however their increases and standing charges are just insane.

I was with npower for a year or so and they were awful. Changing my DD all the time, getting estimates totally wrong...even connecting to them took nigh on 8 months and then they forgot to bill me for 6 months...leaving them was a pain in the arse also. I also checked my meter monthly.

I transferred from EON who were great but now I'm with First:Utility so we'll see how that goes, they do like you do constantly check your meter though.

we are with edf and they are just as bad. last time they tried to put it up i questioned how they got the price. even though we used less electric and gas and the whole sale price had been going down for a year.

they couldnt, so i ask ok fair enough whats your costs for buying power, have they gone up ? could you show me ?

again nothing. after a while i finally got us on a new 2 year fixed deal that saved us about £400 each year. when that runs its course we'l be off to a smaller supplier as the big 6 just make stuff up it seems. but i guess when you sell power to yourself you can charge what the hell you like no matter what it actually costs.

I'm with first utility and they adjust my DD on the fly and works quite well

My electric usage recently dropped. Meter reading submitted for a couple of months. Account becomes incredit
DD adjusts

Feels like first utility are only ones who actively adjust
