Hi Guys

It seems I only ever post in this section when my girlfriends phone is playing up :p

cutting to the chase:

- HTC One
- phone on charge all night last night
- working fine this morning
- used a few apps, in the middle of sending an email
- phone freezes and powers off
- will not turn back on

solutions tried:

- leaving on charge for 10 minutes
- holding down power and vol down for two mins
- holding down power and vol down + vol up for two mins
- holding down power and shining light into front of phone [xda forum suggestion, i lold too]

ran out of ideas really. is it bricked? should I just send her to the shop to get it repaired.

M7 or M8?

I would have suggested to see if the phone can still access recovery mode, as there are quite a few ways in unbricking it, but if she's taken it to a shop then hopefully they can solve it.

Wasn't the light method to check if backlight broken?

it said on xda that it was something to do with the proximity sensor. i tried it anyway.

she gave me a funny look when i was there shining the led off my nexus at her phone whilst holding all the buttons down. :p

m7. tried all the recovery mode options and it just seemed bricked.

the guy in the shop spent 10 mins with it apparently and then just said, yeah its had it.

out of interest, does anyone have any experience with the HTC warranty service in the UK?

assumiung they will just chuck it at a service center and have done?

whats the chances of a bricked phone being replaced with a new one?

I have a HTC One M7 and it developed a freeze/crash/reboot loop problem and sent it back 3 times to HTC for repair. Every time it came back and I switched it on and it did the same thing again. Unbelievable  After the second time I rung and complained and sent detailed instructions and yet the issue is unresolved. You could with a bit of messing about boot into boot menu and reset the phone and it would appear to boot normally. The moment you tried to sign in or use the phone it'd freeze and go into boot loop. All they did 3 times was to reset the phone and send it back. You'd think one of them would realize this wasn't fixing the issue? Useless...

Gave up on it in the end and bought a Moto X vowing never to buy a HTC phone again.
