Went from AMD to Nvidia

I am not a fanboy of either and this just my experience on my setup. I had 2 7970s and they were great but I had stuttering issues in some games like Skyrim and Alice Madness Returns and others. I had sound issues in Windows where it kept cutting out. Radeon Pro reduced stuttering but not completely. Upgraded to 780ti SLI and now theres no stutter in any of my games, evem Far Cry 3 :O and sound works properly

Games just seem to work "out of the box" better now with no fiddling about with other apps. The last Nvidia cards I had were 8800Ultras in SLI, have had AMD after till now and have been happy. I gotta say though, I'm impressed with the Nvidia drivers.

I'm about to make the switch the other way :/. Had Nvidia for years and whilst I'm happy I want to try the Red team before spending big on my next GPU (20nm) so I can make a fair choice.

Hope you enjoy your new cards but thats quite a jump going from 7970's to 780Ti's

I had a similar experience; years of happy gaming with using ATi graphics processors - I just found a GTX480 / 570 even better. My next card will be Nvidia.

In fairness I have had the same experience and as long as nvidia remain competitive in terms of price/performance I will stick with them.

If AMD ever have a card in the price bracket I'm looking in that performs loads better for the same or less money I would have no hesitation in switching back.

I have to say after being the one playing all the games the op mentions on his machine the difference is fantastic. I can finally play alice with no flashing(and following headache) Skyrim is silky smooth all the time and no stuttering in far cry 3 is a godsend. The fact the sound does not cut out is brilliant for the op as he relies on talking software as his eyesight is bad. No fanboy stuff here too as i inherited the op`s 7970`s but i have to say that the working on everything straight out the box is really impressive for nvidia.

Can't comment on Alice game but farcry3 was a complete mess for me on crossfire not sure what it's like now after patches etc.

Tbh these games should work out the box they been out how long now? Fc3 was a complete mess for everyone nvidia and amd on release, ubisoft even blamed the drivers. Not sure how it plays now might after re-download it and try.

Alice is a nvidia game so can see why 7970's in crossfire would run crap, skyrim not played so again can't comment on that.

Anyone still have fc3 installed on AMD? How it run now before I download?

It runs alright now, utilisation is still a bit flaky but its a thousand times better then it was, no more negative scaling and hitching.

After give it another try, am sure am about half way through. Did almost complete it till my game save corrupt. Lol

Tbh by the time it became playable I'd lost interest, done maybe an hour on it? Ubi aren't getting any more money from me, at this moment in time they make ea look like saints

I switched from 780Ti SLi to R9 290 Crossfire .My experience is AMD has better drivers,better scaling.Gaming they trade blows.I much prefer the AMD cards at the moment over nvidia.

FC3 and Blood Dragon worked fine with no stuttering for me on 290p crossfire. Though on release FC3 was naff.

I feel like they have robbed me more than enough. Though I did say I would never buy a ubisoft game ever again. I did buy the girlfriend a watch dogs ps4 edition and that worked perfectly fine, although I am a pc player and thank god I didn't buy that junk.
