is Festival time in Edinburgh so here are a couple of images to reflect this time of year.

The first one is of a guy creating a sand sculpture on the main shopping thoroughfare in Edinburgh Princes Street. My question how did he get the sand here?

A short distance away Edinburgh council cleansing department at its best. A sealed waste bin piled with rubbish. This is just at the corner of Hunter square. I did moan to the council and my local paper who did email me back saying it was interested in the story but I think it was superseded by a missing cat. In the councils defence they have now replaced the sealed bin with a much larger receptacle, I think someone might have mentioned that we do get one of two extra folk a visiting whilst this festival was on and this type of sight to greet them did not really give a good impression.

Finally if you are going to be borne to your last resting place this is as good as it gets. Sorry for the finger in this pic it was my first time use of the camera in my new Moto G LTE.

I thought the crap piled on the bin was one of them weird 3D perspective chalk paintings.

There's definitely no way, not a chance, that he took a bag of sand along with him.

Eames you are the first person on the forums for a while that i have no idea if you are sarcastic, funny or just weird. :P Take it as a compliment.

Maybe some type of major science geek ? i dunno - Doesn't matter carry on the good work !

That dog guy either goes absolutely everywhere or there is a trend of tracksuit wearing men crafting elaborate sand dogs because I've seen them in at least two towns/cities myself.

Sand sculptures are in any city, and if you go onto the promenade in any hot country you will ALWAYS see them on the beach and they're huge and way more impressive than the OP (although I couldn't make that).

I saw a guy brushing it endlessly with a tiny paintbrush.

I think it's a conspiracy and it's a solid dog with a textured sand surface and he puts it there at like 7am and then sits there brushing it all day. After a while he moves to the next town.

1) A furry pig-type creature lying in the doorway of 7/11, bouncing the door open each time it closes.

2) A rat, which seemed to be asking me what the hell I was doing getting all up in its face.

3) A Vietnamese man being beaten to the ground with baseball bats.

4) Cheap and delicious food!

I do miss Edinburgh though. That halfway point between being entertained by the random things happening, and the fury of how difficult it is to go buy some damn milk through the throngs of gawking visitors.
