Does anyone know of any half decent hotels around London, around say the South bank Waterloo area that can offer rooms for around £110-140 per night? There are so many hotels listed on TripAdvisor that I feel overwhelmed.

Got my girlfriend coming down to London next month so I am trying to plan a decent two nights in London but would like us to be situated there instead of grabbing the underground for those days.

So far I've managed to find the London Premier Notting Hill, which is approx £105 per night but it is a tad far from Waterloo but still doable I suppose.

doubletree hilton....

one in southampton row one in victoria

they are a good brand.

what about park plaza.... could not be nearer to Waterloo

Try looking on lastminute and search for secret hotels that are 4-5 star. You can end up with a really nice hotel for your budget. I used to be a bit sceptical of the whole 'secret' thing, thinking they would take my money and put me in a dump, but I tried it once and it was great.

You can also google the description and there's various forums where people have worked out which hotel it is.

Thanks for the recommendations folks. Looks like I've got more than enough information to work off :)

Regarding tube lines we prefer to be situated around Waterloo station so that is the Jubilee, Northern and Bakerloo lines basically. Regarding the visit dates we're looking at Sept 5th to the 8th.

I've stayed in the doubletree and it was good.

I've also stayed in a B&B which was the cheapest I could find which was terrible, and the "breakfast" was just toast, which was cold by the time I got down for it. No spreads, just toast.

This.

I got the Royal Horseguards for £120/night once. It's about £300 normally. There's absolutely stunning deals to be had using Last Minute's Top Secret Hotels, and there's a thread over at MoneySavingExpert.com with people sharing which hotel matches which description. It's not a quick way to book a hotel, but the potential rewards are great!

Premier Inn is apparently quite good. Legend has it that the only thing that's not premier there is the price.
