Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my system in the near future - what mother boards should I be looking at (I'm a bit out of touch with chip sets and socket types), current system is a p45 mobo. I would like something that is slightly future proofed for future CPU upgrades.

I would like to stay intel, and ideally below £100, may try and source second hand from the market - oh and 6 Sata III ports minimum.

CPU will come next - I would like to pay around £100-150 max, again hopefully cheaper 2nd hand?

Thanks all :)

Cheers Micky, could have course go new but I'm on a bit of a budget and would like this system to last a couple of years, probably will end up going new but I'd like to know what I should be looking out for in MM. SO LGA1150 is the socket to go for then?

Thanks though I will look into those two options, I like the look of the Asus :)

brilliant, thanks for that! so I guess I would just purchase as normal from oc and then claim through the site you mention?

Thanks

Yep, the site i linked is the one you get to though the MSI Cashback link you put in, just need to purchase an i5 and board in the promo period to be able to get cashback.

cheers thats good to know :) lots of choice again now lol.

I need some other advice, my current system is built on a Asus P5Q Pro mobo, I have a Nexus NX-5000 PSU in a CM storm scout (v1) case. Will the power supply be ok for the modern boards - connection wise? I guess the only limitation from using the same case is the lack of USB2 connectors on the front panel, is that the only issue?

cheers

Your psu should be fine for new a new system and you will have usb2 and 3 on the motherboard but doesnt the case have it on the front panel ?, unless you fancy a new case

cheers mate, good to know the psu will be ok. The case doesn't have usb3, but I just thought that I could probably just get a card reader with usb3 for a 3.5" bay if I keep it.

thanks
