I thought about using Cash Converters as a quick and simple way of getting rid of unwanted electrical items and make some money.

Has anyone here used them? Do you think they'd give me a decent sum for a PS Vita in very good condition with a couple of games?

Thanks.

No you will get next to nothing.

At least try CEX or any of the other technology exchange shops that spring up on every high street these days.

I often visit cash converters to see what old games they have in, hoping for a good find.

However in reality it is full of gormless unemployed unwashed locals who are desperate to either sell some electrical goods to go gambling with, or trying to get some quick cash for the Xbox they stole the night before.

You will get pretty much nothing from cash converters.

I haven't checked Cash Converters but I don't think CEX buying price is too bad. Don't forget they normally buy everything separately, so cash for the console plus some for the card. The Vita for example they buy for £49, there is no VAT for them to claim back so their profit is only 44% GP. Granted that is higher then GAME makes on a new one but its not unreasonable.

They are just like any other pawn shop, prey on those desperate for cash by offering peanuts for their stuff and if you are intelligent enough to not get ripped off they'll show you the door.

Recently used CeX to sell an old mobile phone, sent it off to them using their pre-paid postage and got £30 for it whereas other sites where only offering £10. They can pay direct into your paypal account also.

A few years ago CEX used to offer really good prices for buying stuff.

I remember the price they were buying some graphics cards for was more than I could buy a new one for.

I spent almost a week buying new cards, selling them to CEX. Profit every time. I mustve sold well over a dozen over the week and made a few hundred quid.

Sadly times have changed :p
