I'm going to Spain in a few weeks and is in need for a backpack to use, something that will last, and I can use as a carry-on to the plane.

These are some of the ones I've looked at :

Osprey Quasar 30 Rucksack
5.11 RUSH 12 BACKPACK BLACK
Case Logic - DLBP114K - 13"-14.1" Laptop Backpack - Black

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I recently bought this as a work/running rucksack. I had it for £40 as the north face store in the Trafford centre price matched as that's how much the blacks website was selling it for. It's great, super comfy and lots of compartments.

I've got a Jansport Agave which has been great for me. It looks good and has plenty of pockets and compartments. Not sure if they are on sale anymore, but if not then I'd recommend Jansport as a brand (their proper backpacks anyway, not the hipster bags).

Check out the Swissgear ones on the Big River. Best backpack I have ever owned (and mine was one of the cheaper ones - Hudson).

I just got an Osprey Escapist (albeit 20l) for my birthday and it's brilliant, very well made it seems and full of very useful compartments and features.

Forgot to say max I'm spending is £75.

The North Face one looks nice, as does the 5.11 Rush 12, decisions decisions...

Not to keen on the swissgear/Escapist/Jansport.

Feel like the 5.11 Rush 12 will be the best option because it's waterproof and looks like it will last, am I able to take this on a plane (as a carry-on), it won't be fully packed?

I have a rush 12 and an all hazards prime which is a fair bit bigger. Both I've used for carry on. The rush 12 should be fine for most if not all airlines.

Well it's between;

Osprey Quasar 30 Rucksack

or

5.11 RUSH 12 BACKPACK BLACK

or

The North Face Borealis Backpack TNF Black

Which should I go for do you reckon guys.

Get the osprey. I've had my 80 litre one since 2006. It's been all over Europe numerous times, dragged through South East Asia, and is currently going strong through China. There's not a single issue or worn part with it.
It's much more comfy than my girlfriends Karrimor and I can imagine it surviving many more trips. I doubt I'd buy a bag that wasn't an osprey.

Though I did buy a Karrimor rain cover as the osprey ones are mad money.

The Borealis. I also have one and the couple of niggles I had have been fixed. The rush bag is good but for a daily commute bag it lacks side pockets for water bottle etc and you have to buy add on pouches. Also, there's a drainage hole in the rush that will allow water in through the bottom. It's more robust and easier to stow, but for your purposes I'd get the borealis.

I did the High Inca Trail in Peru a few months back using an Osprey Talon 33 and couldn't fault it - brilliant bag - although it doesn't have a rain cover built in I was able to detach one from another bag and use that.

Very good bags!

Be careful with the Rush. Some countries can get a bit funny with military-type bags if you're planning to travel.
