Hello,

So.... Im running a 3770K on Stock Speeds, with a Corsair H100i.

The Temps on Idle are around 45 Degrees and when I get in to a game such as CS:GO, the temps jump up to about 65 Degrees.

On more demanding Games I've seen the temps go to above 70 Degrees... And that's still on Stock Speeds...

Any tips on what is wrong??

Thanks..

whats you default cpu voltage? you might need to stress cpu and look in cpu-z

it shouldn't be that hot imo,mid to low 30's idle and around 55c gaming

and what mb

Errm, I've never looked in to the CPU Voltages and stuff like that, the CPU was bought used but the motherboard was bought brand new and I've never changed any settings.

The Motherboard is the MSI M-Power Z77.

And yes I know, thats why I'm not happy, Ive seen people running 30 Degrees Idle on H80's so with a H100i I would expect at least the same.

I should also mention that the H100i was bought used too, maybe an internal fault within the watercooling system?? Maybe.

I am prepared to get a new CPU cooler if necessary.

Thanks.

yh could be faulty cooler, reason I asked about voltages were if they are highish you'd see an increase in temps

what paste did you use? can also lay the pc on its side and let it run for few hoursjust incase its trapped air bubble inside the cooler somewhere, then see if temps are any better

Yeah I was thinking that, and thats why I'm already prepared to buy a new cooler.

And I've never thought of laying it on its side but if its an AIO Unit there shouldnt really be any way in which the bubbles could have formed?

Thanks.

they still leave an air gap I would have thought, for expansion if/when the liquid got hot?

idk, cant think whatelse you can try

Hmmm, i would get a new CPU Cooler right now, but my biggest worry is Spending nearly £100 on a cooler, and for the problem to still remain..

Thanks :L

I always buy air coolers, can never put my trust into aio's

big ones like the d14 but you have to have low profile ram,k2 mount doom is another but has better ram clearance

I've managed to find someone who had the exact same problem as me, and what he did was add some washers to the back plate in order to provide a much better contact with the CPU, as he mentioned that the original contact was poor. After he added the washers, his temps managed to drop from same idle temps as me of 45 Degrees to 28-30, and his load temps running Prime95 dropped from 70+ Degrees, down to around 55 tops.

So I will try this first and report back with the results, Thanks.

De-lid it

De-liding would make the gap worse making contact almost zero i would imagine.

At this point in time getting the contact between waterblock and cpu is the priority with the use of washers - then a delid can be done at a later stage if lower temps are required :)

Yeah ivys run that hot I am afraid unless its delidded, intels fault for putting rubbish contact between CPU and IHS, mine ran like that, 80-90 load, delidded now sits ~28-30 idle, 67 load at 4500mhz

So I guess the process of "De-Liding" mean doing something in the actual CPU right?

If so then Im not sure if I can attempt something like that on my own haha...

Thanks.
